We finally worked in the garden this week. I couldn’t believe how tall the grass and weeds had gotten already!
That’s me in the straw hat using a wheel hoe that belonged to my husbands Grandfather.
As soon as we got one end ready, we started planting. We planted spinach, snow peas, onion sets, mesculen, and green leaf lettuce.
Just a few days later, some of the onions are up!
We grow green beans on these two fences. We like to use grass as mulch between the rows. If the grass clippings are at least 6 inches deep, it won’t grow, but it will keep the weeds from growing.
This is a picture of the garden taken from the road. We still have work to do over on the left where we grown yellow squash, zucchini, pumpkins, and anything else that takes up a lot of room. On the other side of the creek, we have asparagus, comfrey for the animals, and we will plant our corn over there, too. We have to finish planting the front garden, too!
The chives in the herb garden are blooming.
Ok, it’s time for the Saturday on the Farm Carnival!

Thanks! It's fun to see the plants growing. It will be so nice to have homegrown veggies again.
