Making a Home – Homemaking Linky

We don’t normally celebrate Valentine’s Day, but last week one of my daughters wanted to. She told me everything she wanted for Valentine’s Day. A heart shaped box of chocolates, a teddy bear (not just any teddy, but a special V-day one), and flowers. Her list was even longer that what I just listed! When she told me her list, I told her she should start praying for her husband now, because he was going to be in a heap of trouble! lol

Needless to say, she didn’t get what was on her list. But I did do some special things for the kids that didn’t cost anything.

For lunch, I served them heart shaped pancakes. Yes, lunch, not breakfast. lol I served these with their choice of maple syrup or homemade cherry syrup. A couple of us put some of my home canned cherries on top, too. So good!

For an afternoon snack, they had heart shaped bread (well, the top of the bread was heart shaped lol) with my homemade Red Bud Jelly, which is a light pink color, but doesn’t show it on the wheat bread.

And their snack that night was heart shaped brownies!

I used a silicone baking pan for the first time while making the brownies. I liked it. Since it was the first time I used it, while baking the first batch, I could smell the pan. I was afraid that the brownies would taste like the smell. But I tasted them, and they were fine. :)

  1. I’m impressed with your heart shaped pancake. How did you do that? The crossing guard at my daughter’s school does heart shaped meat loaf on Valentines Day. Sometimes she even garnishes it with beet slices cut with heart shaped cookie cutters.
