My new meal plan is going well. So far, the family isn’t complaining about it. lol
I made a birthday cake for my son’s 14th birthday party. He wanted half yellow, and half chocolate. I used two cake mixes. Yes, store bought mixes.
Instead of baking each of the cake mixes in a 13 x 9 inch pan, I used an 8 x 11.5 by 2 inch pan. It makes a nicer, thicker cake. I think they’ve downsized the mixes, because cake mixes come out thinner now than they used to. Anyway, I took the chocolate and yellow cake and placed them next to each other, and frosted as one cake.
You can kind of see the edges of the two different cakes. I used a glass pan that has rounded corners. If you used a metal cake pan with straight corners, the edges would blend together better. He enjoyed his cake, and the guests liked it, too.
Now…. to answer the question that I get asked about a hundred times a day……….What’s For Dinner?

Happy Birthday to your son.
I’ve been thinking about baking. Just to challenge myself I suppose and the kids would love it 🙂
