So last week, Getting Healthy with Linda Week 1, I talked about some of the reasons why I wanted to start getting healthy. I shared about using my pedometer, and how many steps I took each day that week.
My goal right now is 5,000 steps a day. It is hard to get that many in some days. Never mind the recommended 10,000 steps a day ! Here’s how I did the past week.
Getting Healthy with Linda Week 2
Last Friday 5443
Saturday 4341
Sunday 1189 – Sunday is usually a day off for me, sometimes I don’t even wear my pedometer
Monday 2167 – No excuses for today, I have no idea what happened.
Tuesday 4689
Wednesday 3543
Thursday 4634
Except for last Friday, I have fallen short of my goal every day. That makes me so sad. And frustrated. In my defense, the pollen count here has been through the roof, making my allergy symptoms really severe. Which means I should be using the Wii Fit!
You will notice that I when I talk about getting healthy, I do not talk about weight. That’s because healthy is not a number on the scale. Skinny people can be just as unhealthy as overweight people.
My getting healthy goal is not a weight loss goal. Here’s what “being healthy” means to me:
Not having “this” or “that” wrong with me, to be able to get up in the morning physically ready to do the work God has for me to do, to have the strength and energy to take care of my family, and do the million and one things that a wife and mother has to do during the day.
That’s what “being healthy” means to me. You may have a different definition for yourself. That’s ok, because we are all at different stages of our health, and our lives.
My getting healthy goals for the next week are:
Get back to the doctor to discuss my lab results
Get 5,000 steps a day on the pedometer, with Sunday being a day off.
Why don’t you join me! If you don’t have a pedometer, they can be picked up fairly inexpensively at many stores. This is the pedometer I use, the one pictured above, Ozeri Digital Pocket 3D Pedometer and these are my new walking shoes that I love, also pictured above, Reebok Daily Cushion 2.0 RS walking shoes.
