Our Homeschool Week in Review

Volleyball seems to be the dominating activity in our home lately. Thankfully, our homeschool team plays in a Christian association so we have no worries about having to miss church services due to volleyball. She has had to miss some extra church activities, such as band practice and CR, though.

Abby played in two volleyball games on Saturday. It was a marathon sports day. lol Three teams played each other in basketball and volleyball. Thankfully, we didn’t have to stay for it all! They won the first game (22-25; 25-16; 18-16) Unfortunately, they had to play back to back games and were really tired for the second game. And the other team was really good. The score was 18-25; 7-25. They play again tomorrow. Go Trailblazers!

We have always made a Thanksgiving Tree. For over twenty years, I started this tradition before my oldest could write his own words on the leaves. He’s 27 now! So we have a long history of a Thanksgiving Tree. I was going to just skip it this year. Then I said no, it’s not fair to Zach. He’s only 13 and he deserves to carry on the traditions. The same goes for Abby, who is 15.

So this week, I had Zach make our Thanksgiving Tree and some leaves. It’s on the place of honor in the living room. The back of the front door. lol

He designed the tree and the leaves, and hung the tree up himself. I think the tree is very creative. lol It’s a work in progress, as we’ll keep adding leaves up to Thanksgiving Day. I’m just not sure why he hung it so low. I know I’m short, but I’m not that short! lol Maybe he’s expecting some hobbits or Reepicheep for Thanksgiving?

In other school news, Zach has finished his spelling book already. So I now have to decide what to have him work on next. Another spelling book? A website, since that’s what he really likes? Since we’re taking next week off for Thanksgiving, I have a little time to decide.
