We’ve been really busy here. Trying to keep up with schoolwork, mostly successful, housework, somewhat successful, and kids, sorta successful. The goat barn(don’t think its big enough to call a barn, actually) is finished. I’ve been out in the evenings watching, mostly, and helping, a little. I have pics to share, as soon as I get some time to download them from the camera. D just has to finishing running 2 strands of the fence appx 6 feet long, then we’ll be ready for mama goat to come home. Well, except for food, and hay.
Yesterday, I took the kids to see Princess Diaries 2. We really liked it. Now we can’t wait for it to come out on DVD. The kids want to go see it again, but it’s so expensive to go to the movies! We’ll wait for the DVD.
Today, we took Calen’s shorts to the extension office. He’s really excited!
Am I mean?
We had new neighbors move in earlier this year, and they have a little boy. I guess he’s 5, as he just started K. The other night the kids told me that he had been peeing outside. I said he’s going behind a bush right? NO! oooook! So the next night, I looked up and saw him and Zachary on the hill, both of them going! Now, we’ve NEVER had trouble with Z going outside. I’m sure it never even occurred to him, as it’s not something the others due. So I called them down off the hill, and sent the boy home and sent Z in the house for the rest of the evening. Ok, so the kid acts like I’m some kind of big ogre or something. “why do I have to go home?” “I don’t have to go now” “I won’t do it anymore” sigh I said “I know you don’t have to go now, you already went!” and “your going home now to remind you that we don’t pee outside. When you come back tomorrow, you’ll remember not to.” I didn’t go and talk to the mom. So yesterday, I pull in the driveway and find him playing in our yard. I was really upset. We have a creek behind our house, and if he fell in, he would drown, and no one would be able to see him! His mom couldn’t even see him where he was playing, as he was behind our house. So I get out of the van, leaving my kids, and all our stuff in the van, and make him go home. But this time, I go with him. I send him in his house to get his mom and she comes out. I tell her what happened, and how we feel it’s too dangerous for him to be playing by himself in our yard. She just looks at him, and says his name. Then looks back at me. So I say we’re glad he comes over to play with the kids, but it’s too dangerous for him to be over playing when we’re not home. She says ok, turns and walks back into the house. HUH?! No “your right, I’ll make sure he doesn’t do it again.” not even a “thank you for keeping my son from drowning”! Do you think I’m being mean? Was I wrong in expecting more from the mom than “ok”? It’s been bugging me anyway, that he’s always over here, and not once have they invited our kids over there to play. Not that we would let them, but it’s like she has a free babysitter for hours while he’s here, and I have more work making sure he stays safe and out of trouble. sigh I liked it better when our only neighbors were our parents and the cows!
I’m feeling better, not 100% yet, but better. I’m STILL coughing! I think I’m getting bronchitis. sigh
It’s downright chilly outside! It’s been raining most of the day, too. It’s making me want a winter meal. lol So we’re having Chicken a la Mama over rice. A nice hot comforting meal, to warm your bones. LOL Guess I better get to it!
