Today, Melissa had another dr’s appt. I wish the drs would listen to us! sigh Did I blog about her last visit? I don’t think so. We changed dr’s offices for the kids. We couldn’t get an appt to fit our schedule with the dr Mel wanted, the woman physican assistant. So she agreed to see the new Dr. K, a man. This was Monday, August 23rd. So we told him about her knees hurting, and her shoulder injury. I was very specific in telling him that she hasn’t down anything strenuous since we last went to karate in June. Nothing, hasn’t even ridden her bike because her knees hurt too much. So he says let’s wait 4 weeks, and see if the pain goes away. He must not of heard me! So I repeat that it’s been 6 weeks already.
He says, ok, lets wait 4 weeks. huh? Does he not understand english?? At this point, he hadn’t even touched her knees or shoulder! So I go into more detail about what she said it feels like. So he finally gets up, rotates her shoulder, touches her knee, but doesn’t even MOVE her knee. “Ok, lets wait 4 weeks.” WHAT??!! So I REPEAT the 6 week time period. Then he says “I can see your getting a little over anxious. So we’ll do blood work. Is that what you want me to do?” At that point I just gave up! Fine do blood work. He also gave her a prescription, which didn’t help He leaves the room, and Mel and I look at each other and both make choking motions at the same time! lol I asked her is I was speaking english. lol and if I was over anxious. She said no I wasn’t. sigh.
Anyway, today she went and saw the PA. Who actually listened to me when I said that it has now been 8 weeks since quitting karate, and the pain is actually getting worse. All the blood work had come back normal, and negative for rhuemoutoid (SP) arthitis. She actually performed a complete exam of her knees and shoulder! woot! Said she was going to refer her to a rhuemotologist (sp) and gave her another prescription for an anti-inflammatory, which is now starting to work. woot! Now we’re waiting to see if we can get her in to see the specialist (easier to spell!) They recommended one that is almost a 3 hour drive, in a place I’ve never been before. We don’t have an appt yet, we’re waiting to here if they will see Mel. Apparently, most rhuemotologist won’t see children. I asked if there was one at the medical center that I know, a 2 hour drive away. Yes there is, but the last appt she made there was for next FEBRUARY! And they might not see children either. So I said we’d go to whoever we could get in quicker with. That will see children. At least the new med is starting to work. Some days, she walks with a limp, because her knees hurt so bad. đ
Last night, D had to go pick up Kenn and take him to the ER. He has had a sinus infection, went to the dr, got meds, said he’s been taking them, but they’re not working. He said he passed out. So D took him tot he ER. They did blood work, ct scan. Said his infection wasn’t responding to the previous meds, and gave him some new ones. So I had to get that filled, and take it to him. Except they didn’t answer the door! We knocked and banged for 5 minutes, and they still didn’t wake up! So I left a note, and went back tonight. And gave him the meds, and gave him a lecture about taking them on schedule. Said he took the others on schedule, too. Fast forward to Saturday, I see Kenn, and he is much better, so the new meds are working.
