This weeks big news is the the weather got up into the upper 30’s a couple of days this week. That means that Abby & Zach were able to get outside for a couple of walks. PE!
Abby finished her history book this week. She was in Bob Jones University (Affiliate Link) American Republic. Needless to say, she is very happy to be finished with another book.
I’m not sure when I’ll have her and Zach start new books for the subjects they have finished. I don’t want to wait until August, but I do want to let them have a little break in their workload. I think I’ll wait until after volleyball is over to start Abby in any new books. So that means she will be starting some in March. I might as well have Zach start his new books at the same time. There. That’s settled. lol
Zach has been enjoying Mango Languages Spanish. He is doing well with it. I had him start a notebook with all the new words he’s learning. He likes working on the computer better than writing. I guess that can be said for a lot of kids, especially boys.
Our kids have had great fun making videos over the years. They even make up their own newscasts and weather reports. This lead to them working on a newscast for church, after someone from church saw their videos. After not making any for quite a few months, some at the church requested that the newscasts be started again. Abby is a co-anchor, Calen helps direct and write. He also is the videographer, sound man, mixer, and editor. And probably a few other jobs I’m forgetting about. I thought I’d share a picture from the recent recording.
Abby is on stage with her co-host, heart face. lol Calen is sitting in the chair with his back to the camera. He uses a green screen, then edits the video and adds backgrounds, pictures, and writing that goes along with the story they are reporting. Calen taught himself how to do all of this while in our homeschool. 🙂 It so good to see him use it outside of our homeschool. It’s even better to see him use his talents and abilities working for God. 🙂
Abby has two volleyball games tomorrow, Saturday. After playing these two teams, there isn’t another scheduled game until the 14th. After that game, the tournaments start. How many tournament games, and all star, games they play will depend on how good they do. So while the season is winding down, it won’t be officially over until March 1. Until then, we still have twice a week practices.
Over all, it’s been a nice week. Even if Zach would rather play computer games than do his schoolwork. lol
And that’s our homeschool week in review!

We homeschool too! I had two posts on my blog last week about it (one guest post) but our choice was made mainly for medical reasons. My son, like yours, would also like to play video games instead of do his work! I think that is a universal problem, lol.
