March 25, 2025 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy 33 Comments

The Chosen is one of the most-watched shows in the world. It’s a groundbreaking historical drama based on the life of Jesus seen through the eyes of those who knew him. As of July 27, 2024, over 250 million viewers have watched The Chosen. The seven-season series shares an authentic and intimate look at Jesus’ revolutionary life and teachings.

The Chosen: The Last Supper

And now, the new The Chosen: Last Supper is releasing in theaters in 3 parts! Part One (episodes 1-2) releases on March 28; Part Two (episodes 3-5) releases on April 4; and Part Three (episodes 6-8) releases on April 11. You don’t want to miss this!

The Chosen: Last Supper

Synopsis:

The table is set.
The people of Israel welcome Jesus as king while his disciples anticipate his crowning. But—instead of confronting Rome—he turns the tables on the Jewish religious festival. Their power threatened, the country’s religious and political leaders will go to any length to ensure this Passover meal is Jesus’ last.
Shot in a beautiful cinematic format, The Chosen: Last Supper brings the most pivotal week in history to audiences in this special three-part theatrical release.

I just finished watching episode 1. And I loved it! If you haven’t watched The Chosen before, it’s ok. You don’t have to see previous seasons to enjoy it, and follow along. I do think once you see this, you will want to go back and watch them all.

The Chosen: Last Supper Movie Review

If you have watched The Chosen, then you know the look and feel of the series. These new episodes released in theaters, have the same look and feel. It is very well done. The acting, the directing, the scenery and costumes. It has a very dramatic feel to it. The music fits the scenes as well.

The Chosen: The Last Supper

The Chosen: Last Supper is directed by Dallas Jenkins and stars Jonathan Roumie as Jesus. The rest of the cast consists of:
Shahar Isaac – Simon Peter
Elizabeth Tabish – Mary Magdalene
Paras Patel – Matthew
Noa James – Andrew

The Chosen: The Last Supper

The Chosen: The Last Supper has no rating listed listed, but it is suitable for everyone. There are a few very dramatic scenes, and scenes with swords being used, not close up, and no blood is shown. Also included is a scene where there is a fire, and a person runs out of the scene with fire on their back. I like to share this information so you know if you want to take your kids or not. Hopefully, you find it helpful.

The Chosen: The Last Supper

I highly recommend The Chosen: Last Supper. Reading these stories in the Bible is amazing. But watching these scenes come to life really helps us see who Jesus is, and what he did, in a way that is easier for many to relate to.

I loved the first episode, and can’t wait to see the rest of it in theaters. I’m also excited to see the rest of the episodes when they release.

We’ve been studying The Chosen as part of our women’s Bible Study this winter (every year we take several weeks to study the episodes, do the homework and then watch a roundtable discussion with Dallas Jenkins and others that reviews each episode). We are currently focused on Season 4 and I look forward to this study every week and the rich conversations my small group has. Yesterday we focused on the “Good Shepherd” episode and it had me thinking of this bible story in new ways! I love that!

The movie brings the story to life. Being so close to Easter, it is important to remember the sacrifice made.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
