We were under severe thunderstorm warnings several times one day last week. We also had several tornado warnings that day, too. Somehow, all the severe weather missed us. We did have one brief period of hail, though. I heard something hit the roof, so I went out to see what it was and saw another piece of hail fall. Thankfully, we did get very much. They were big!

That’s my husband’s hand holding four pieces. The neighbor posted a picture on Facebook of hail with a golf ball, and they were almost the same size. Like I said, thankfully there wasn’t very much, as it would have damaged a lot of things. Including the cars!
I was busy last week dehydrating some vegetables that were given to us. Here’s a picture of the jars along with the first zucchini from our garden. You can read more about the dehydrated vegetables in my In the Kitchen with Linda post.
The Jewelweed is blooming. I love this pretty little flowers. And the seed pods are so fun! You may know them as Touch Me Nots. I’ll be drying some of the leaves this year to use in poison ivy remedies next spring.
We’ve had some successes and some failures in this years vegetable garden. All these tomato plants are a success. I started these, roma’s, beefsteak’s, and cherry tomatoes in milk jug greenhouses that I made. Then we transplanted them to the garden. The plants are getting really big. We have a ton of blossoms.
Here are a few tomatoes on the vine! I just love my cardboard mulch!
If you look all the way at the end of the garden in the picture up above, you’ll see where my one yellow squash and 4 zucchini plants are. I had another yellow squash plant, but something ate it. The plants are getting big, with lots of blossoms.
Something as been eating one of the zucchini plants, though! Something big! We’ve seen a groundhog in the garden a couple of times, so it is probably him.
He also took a big bite out of one of my zucchinis! I don’t mind sharing with the critters, but eating the plant and the zucchini is a little much! lol I left this one on plant, so hopefully, if he wants anymore snacks, he’ll go after that one again!
We had the zucchini for supper tonight. It was so good! I can’t wait for the tomatoes to ripen!
