Amended 2010 Blog Goals

January 22, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Well, we’re still in January, and I’ve already messed up my goal of posting everyday.

sigh….

In my defense, I have been busy with kids, and goat kids, housework, schoolwork, Bible study, prayer time, laundry, Facebook games…not necessarily in that order…..And way to many Facebook games!

I have cut out all but 2 Facebook games. The kids keep asking me why I’m quitting the games. Because they take too much time! Time that could be better spent on other things, like dishes and laundry. And extra school work for the kids. Ok, just kidding on that last one!

Maybe I should count each post separately, instead of each day. So if I end up the year with 365 posts, then I have met my goal.

Yeah, that’s it, I’m amending my goal three weeks in.

My official 2010 Blog Goal is 365 posts.

There, that was easy!

It’s My Purse!

January 12, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I recently changed purses to a smaller one. When the 15yo teenage boy saw the new one he said:

“Why did you change to that one? WE can’t fit as much stuff in that one!

WE……..WE….

I do like the smaller one. I like how much lighter it is, it doesn’t hurt my shoulder to carry it.

It just isn’t big enough, though. I often have to carry supplies for my husband who has diabetes. I have to carry snacks for him when we go out, and I often carry his test kit in my purse. Because, you know, I’m carrying it anyway, and if I carry it, he won’t have to take a bag, too.

So I carry his stuff. At least then I know he will have his test kit and snacks if he needs them.

So I will change to a larger purse.

So I absolutely refuse to carry anything for the kids.

If they can’t carry it themselves, do they really need to bring it?

TuesdayTurkey casserole topped with stuffing (stuffing is from the freezer, veggies are in the casserole)

Homeschool Update

January 10, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I haven’t mentioned homeschooling in awhile, so I thought I’d do an update.

We missed some school while I was sick. That won’t be a problem though, we will still finish with time for a summer break, if we decide to take one. We don’t always take a summer break, or we just take the month of July off, not the whole summer.

I had to pull one student off Saxon Algebra 1/2. He was doing good, but now he seems stuck. So I have to make a decision. Keep him is Saxon and get the DIVE dvd to help him. Or switch to another curriculum. He says he doesn’t want to go to college. I just want to make sure that he keeps all his options open. So he needs to do algebra.

Hannah finished all the 8th grade work except for math. She asked for more work. So I started her in 9th grade, except for math. She says she wants to finish high school by her birthday. December of this year. I don’t think it will be possible, but if she wants to try I’ll let her.

She wants to take French. The only problem is, We already have Rosetta Stone Spanish. I had planned on all the kids using it. So do I have her learn a language she doesn’t really want to learn or do I spend another $200. to get French?

Our School Room

The 11 year old girl is sailing right along with 5th grade. She likes school, and has no problem with doing her work.

The 9 year old boy is another story! Like most little boys, he’d rather be playing. Now if I can just convince him that he would have more time to play if he would get his school work done early.

Over all, we’re starting 2010 in good shape. I hope to get lots of extra work done now while it’s so cold. That way in the spring we will have less work to do and can spend more time outside.

It’s Freezing !!!

January 8, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

It has been soooo cold here in Kentucky the last couple of weeks. It looks like it’s going to get worse before it gets better. They’re calling for a low of 1 this weekend. one…. one…

I really try hard not to complain about the cold. Really, I do. I have a heat intolerance and it gets really, really hot here in Kentucky during the summer.

So I reserve my weather complaints for summers heat, not winters cold.

I’m just saying…..it’s really cold here…..brrrrrr……..

We have 5 goats that are getting ready to kid sometime soon (we don’t know the date). The poor babies won’t stand a chance in this cold weather. Hopefully, they hold off having them until it’s warmer. They are getting huge, though, so I’m not sure how much longer they will wait.

Well, I’m going to go try to get warm!

WFMW – Winter Exercise for Kids

January 6, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Since it’s Backwards Week at Works For Me Wednesday, I get to ask you a question!

We are having a bitterly cold winter here in Kentucky, with lots of snow and some ice thrown in for fun (NOT!).

It is way too cold for the kids to play outside at all when the high is in the teens or twentys.

The kids are going stir crazy, which is making me crazy.

We do have a mini trampoline that the kids jump on, but they get bored with that quick, and most days don’t even want to jump on it at all.

We got a Wii for Christmas. And while that is more active than other video games, not all of it counts as exercise. Boxing does, boxing is hard! We are getting the Wii Fit, our Walmart has been sold out of it. Hopefully that will be good for us to use for exercise.

Does anyone have any ideas for indoor exercise for kids aged 9, 11, 14 and 15?

Visit We Are That Family for more Works For Me Wednesday ideas, or ask a question of your own!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
