The Promise: Birth of the Messiah is an animated musical celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. This beautifully crafted musical is a faithful adaptation of the birth narrative from the Gospel of Luke in both story and song. The Promise: Birth of the Messiah is a unique and worshipful story experience that will inspire audiences young and old for years to come.
In ancient Israel, during the days of King Herod, a young couple’s world is turned upside down when the prophecy of a long-awaited deliverer unfolds upon their lives. They must trust in God’s promise in the midst of rising challenges, and their faithfulness is rewarded as they witness the most surprising and glorious event of all human history – the promise fulfilled in the birth of the Messiah.
I watched The Promise: Birth of the Messiah with my husband and four teenagers. We enjoyed watching it. My husband and I were even laughing in a couple of spots. Which was totally unexpected. I thought the graphics were good. Except for the people’s noses, and the babies being all head and very little body, but I guess that just comes under personal preference. The majority of the 45 minute musical is set outdoors, and the scenery graphics were well done.
There was a little groaning when the boys found out it was a musical. lol But the settled down quickly. Our oldest is 27, so we’ve watched a lot of Bible story videos with our children. This is the first one that I have seen that is a musical. Kids love music, and I think The Promise will hold the attention of kids of all ages. My 13 year old son didn’t like the ending. The story ended shortly after Jesus’s birth, before the Wise Men came. He said they should have followed through and shown the Wise Men. I really liked the last scene where Mary is shown singing and playing with baby Jesus.
