The biggest thing that happened in my kitchen this week was Thanksgiving. Thanks to my 17, almost 18, year old daughter that did all the baking.
I saw a picture of an apple pie on Facebook, so I sent her the picture. She made her own version and here it is.
They came out great, and tasted great, too. She made some pie crust cookies with the leftover dough.
She also made two chocolate pies with homemade graham cracker crusts, and homemade chocolate pudding All these pies were topped with homemade whipped cream that she beat by hand. And homemade vanilla ice cream that I made
She was also busy making leaf sugar cookies. They were so yummy!
On Thanksgiving day, I served snacks on a table in the living room. Hannah’s cookies, stuffed eggs, carrots, celery, and homemade ranch dip.
Hannah and I made a canning lid ring pumpkin with cinnamon stick stem. It came out really cute.
Here it is on one of the dinner tables. Yes, we had to have two We were supposed to have 15 for dinner, then 13, and we ended up with 12.
Here’s a shot of both tables The table in the dining room, where my little mama is sitting, looking into the school room with the other table.
Someday, I would like to have one or two, joined together, long tables so everyone can sit together for holiday meals.
So Thanksgiving is over, the leftovers are gone. (Oh, there is still some homemade ice cream in the freezer. I forget about that!) Now, I guess it’s time to start planning Christmas dinner!
Speaking of Christmas, we always have eggnog on the first night of Advent. This year, I decided to try making homemade eggnog. I think I’m crazy! It ended up taking about an hour and twenty minutes of stirring time on the stove! But it came good! It tasted like eggnog, and wasn’t quite as thick as store bought. Some of the kids said it tasted funny. I think it was just that we’ve never had homemade before, it tastes like eggnog, but not like store bought. If that makes sense. lol So now I have to decide if I want to make it from scratch again for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, the other two mandatory eggnog drinking days for our family. Or if I want to buy store bought eggnog.
