This has not been a good week for Kentucky. So many tornados, so many deaths and injuries. There was a tornado about 15 minutes southeast of where I live. Several deaths, a lot of injuries and houses demolished. I have a lot of relatives that live in that area. As far as I know everyone is ok.
Please pray for all those affected by the tornados this week in Kentucky.
In between the bad weather this week, the kids and I have been getting some work done outside. One of my favorite things to do in the spring is put my rocking chair back on the front porch. The chickens seemed to like it, too. lol These are the only 2 chickens we have left. We are planning on getting some new chicks and most likely turkeys this spring.
The rocking chair will be getting a new coat of paint shortly. 🙂
The Daffodils in the front bulb garden are still blooming. The full size ones are starting to open now, as you can see on the back right.
There was one that opened fully, but lost it’s battle with the wind, so I brought it in the house.
Beautiful!
The Wild Rose bushes are starting to leaf out all over the property. This one is growing on a wagon wheel in front of the house. This was taken after we trimmed it back. The 3 bushes all along the front of the house got a good trimming. And the trimmings were placed in the compost pile.
The kids and I also gave our 2 Butterfly Bushes in the front yard a good trimming.
We also laid newspaper and cardboard in the vegetable garden and the herb garden. The grass and weeds are already growing here. Now’s the time to get the cardboard, newspaper or other mulch down to stay ahead of the weeds.
I was very excited to see the Lilacs starting to leaf out. We transplanted these here from a nearby property 2 years ago. This will be their 3rd summer in this spot. I hope it will be the summer they bloom for the first time! I love Lilacs!

I too live in Kentucky. Much of my family live in West Liberty, which was hit both days by tornadoes. My father’s cousin lost her daughter in the tornado on Friday. The daughter’s husband and their child were injured and hospitalized. The rest of my family was spared, thankfully.
It is going to take a lot of time and effort to rebuild this town. Everything from churches, government offices, restaurants, homes, the hospital, schools, etc are all damaged. I continue to pray for the residents of this town, and all the others that were effected.
I’m sorry to hear about the lose of your cousin, June. I hope the injured family members have quick and easy recoveries. Kentucky was hit hard last week. I hope and pray that this is not an indication of it being a bad year for tornadoes.
We are indeed praying for your part of the country… in fact we did so this very evening at our care group meeting. It’s so hard to think about these things happening and we are definitely not immune to tornadoes here in the upper midwest… lots of damage and destruction most years due to them… Larry

I feel the pain of those affected by the
tornado’s… having lived in Central
Illinois for 10 years I lived through
several and there not pretty. Some say
the hurricanes here in Florida each year
are horrible.. at least we get a few days
notice before they hit… prayers out to
all….
Your garden is coming along nicely.
