I recently received this beautiful Flutes and Pearls Handle Tray from Wilton Armetale to review. I fell in love with this tray from the moment I opened the shipping box. The product box has a nice design that would make it a perfect gift.
The Flutes and Pearls tray is made of an aluminum based alloy making it safe for oven, stove, grill, and the freezer. At 18 1/4″ by 12 1/2′” this is a large tray that I was able to get plenty of food on for my family of 6.
I served spaghetti and meatballs on it one night. This a two pound box of spaghetti, cooked, with plenty of sauce and a couple dozen meatballs. The tray really dressed up our ordinary meal of spaghetti.
I think the Flutes and Pearls tray is beautiful. Here’s a close up of the pearl detail. I was afraid that it would be hard to clean, but it hasn’t been. The tray is not dishwasher safe. Everything that I have served or baked in it has washed out fairly easyily by hand.
One of the great things about this tray is that it can go into the fridge and freezer, to the oven, then right to the table. I made Chicken Scalloped Potatoes on the morning of a busy day. I covered it, and put it into the fridge until I was ready to bake it.
It worked out great putting it straight into the oven from the fridge. It was a great time saver. Then being able to serve it in the saved on having to wash a serving dish while looking much better on the table than a regular baking dish.
On other day, I realized how busy our week was going to be, so I started prepping meals for the week. I made a meatloaf to eat later in the week.
I covered it with foil, and placed it into the freezer until I needed it. Even though this is a large tray, it fit easily in my regular above the fridge freezer.
When you pull meat on the tray from the freezer, you can run hot water over the tray to defrost the meat. This can take up to 20 minutes, depending on the size of the meat. It worked great, and I had my meatloaf in the oven very quickly.
Now, the baked on grease from the meatloaf looks kind of scary in the fluted sides of the pan, I agree. But like I said above, it cleaned up easily. I didn’t have to use a scrubbie on it either, just my dish cloth.
Since the Flutes and Pearls Handle Tray is large, I couldn’t find a great place to store it in my kitchen. I decided because I loved it so much, I would just store it out in the open. I’ve been keeping it on top of my piano that is in between the dining room and living room. It looks great there, but would also look great as a center piece on the dining room table.
The tray being on top of the piano, in the center of the living area, came in handy the other day when our electric went out. It proved to be a very safe place to put the candles!
I love the versatility of the Wilton Armetale products. Freezer, grill, stove top, and oven. Then a beautiful serving tray. I wasn’t able to try my tray on the grill, as we don’t own one. We cook out over a camp fire in the fire pit in our yard. I messaged the company twice, using the contact form on the website, asking if I could use it on a grate over the fire. I didn’t receive a response, so I haven’t tried it yet.
I have loved using this Wilton Armetale tray, and I hope to add to my collection of their products in the future. I’ve got my eye on a matching gravy boat. 🙂
