Christmas Shoeboxes

November 15, 2014 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy 1 Comment

The kids and I spent today going shopping for, and packing 7 Christmas Shoeboxes. We’ve done these in the past, too, and it is so much fun. Fun for us, and fun for the kid who receives it as well, I’m sure.

Christmas Shoeboxes

In case you have never heard of Christmas Shoeboxes, you start with a shoebox. This can be an actual shoebox, or a plastic one, or any similar shaped box, and fill it with items for a child in one of three age groups. 2-4, 5-9, and 10-14, boy or girl.

We filled ours with toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant for the older kids, hair stuff for the girls, combs, washclothes, soap, socks, paper, pencils, pens, solar calculaters, dolls, little teddy bears, balls, small cars, coloring books and crayons for the younger kids, stickers, sewing kits for the older girls, and one teenage boy is getting a University of Kentucky hat courtesy of my teenage boy. lol

The kids and I had fun shopping for everything. And we had fun as a family filling the boxes.

We filled 7 boxes this year. That is the most that we have ever done.

We hope and pray that these Christmas Shoeboxes bless the children that receive them

If you are interested in filling a Christmas Shoebox with your family, visit. Samaritan Purse for more information. Shoeboxes are collected until November 24th.

Edited to add: The suggested donation for sending a Christmas Shoebox is $7. per box. This can be included inside the box when you drop it off. If you pay online, though, you will get a special label you can print with a tracking code attached to your email. When the box is delivered, the scan it, and you will receive an email saying what country your box went to. The last time we did this, our boxes ended up in Madagascar. We are looking forward to seeing where our boxes go this year!

This is a great idea! I’ll be checking our area for something like this. There use to be Christmas trees in the mall near here that was decorated with foster children’s wish lists. It has been a long time since I was in a mall after Thanksgiving!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
