Everything went good for Melissa’s dr appt last week. Everyone at Shriners was really nice. You walked in the front door, and and you good see in very large letters NEW PATIENT REGISTRATION over the correct doorway. No wandering around wondering which way to go. When the lady called Mel’s name, she was very nice, making conversation, etc. walked us back and did vitals and weight, then told us to go to the squirrel room. lol All the exam rooms had animal names. So the student doc, then the rhuematologist. He said there was nothing seriously wrong with her knees, no arthritis. He said he thought her knee caps weren’t tracking properly. He said he wanted to get an xray of her hips, if you have hip problems, it can make your knees hurt. And he wanted her to see the physical therapist. A few minutes after the dr left, someone came and got us and walked us to xray. We only had to wait a couple of minutes and they called her name. Got the xray, and a couple of minutes later, someone came and got us and walked us to PT. We had to wait a few minutes for the PT to come down. But not long. He examed her knees, had her walk, do some things, etc. He said he didn’t think her kneecaps tracked properly, and that her knee joints were lax. He also discovered that Mel locks her knees when she’s walking and standing. So he showed her some exercises to do, and gave her a printout of them with directions. And told her to float. lol Not to lock her knees, but just relax them a little and, well, float. lol Stand up and try it. lol Lock your knees in place, then just release it a little, so their not locked, but not really bent either. Now your floating. lol I’ve heard stuff about Shriners in the past, the group, not the hospital. I’m not going to comment, cause I don’t really know. But we had an excellent experience at Shriners Hospital. It was 100% geared towards kids. We were in the outpatient section, we didn’t go in the inpatient section. Even the pediatric departments at UK, that I’m used to, aren’t geared toward kids as much as Shriners was. Maybe that’s unfair, as Shriners probably has more money to spend. And all the staff was really, really nice. We didn’t run into a snobby person there, which is more than you can say for most drs offices and hospitals. Her appt was at 9, and we finished with everything by 11.

We then went to Target to look at jeans. This was my first time in Target, and I was not impressed. I guess because I don’t normally buy the name brand clothing they had. So it didn’t seem like a good deal to me, as the prices were higher than I normally pay. I found were the Party City store was, too. I’m going back next week with Calen to look for his bday party stuff. We then got on the highway, and drove to Berea. We stopped at Taco Bell, where Mel’s friend works, and had lunch. Then we went to Walmart, right behind TB, so see if they had anything different than our store. Nope. But Mel got a shirt, and I got some pj’s. Long sleeve, long pant with polka dots. So comfy, I love them!

We had a good time at the Civil War Re-enactment, last weekend. The kids loved it. They think it’s really cool that Presidents Lincoln and Davis are there walking around. After we went there for the first time last year, they wanted to become re-enactors. This year they asked me “How come you didn’t get our clothes made in time?!” lol Calen and Hannah have taken up sewing. Mel can do it if she wanted to (knows how, doesn’t really want to). lol So maybe we’ll start working on some clothes. The kids would like to wear them for dress up, even if we didn’t wear them to the re-enactment.

Calen made a powder pouch this week, to carry his gun powder in, of course. lol It came out nice. I still need to take a pic. He took a beaded necklace (like the Mardi Gras necklaces that they throw out at parades) that was broken, and cut the beads apart and was carry them around in his powder bag as canon balls. lol Hence, the “No canon balls on the table”. lol Army Men are his life. lol Right now we’re reading Yankee Doodle Boy. An actual account written by a young man that fought in the Revolutionary War. Calen is loving that!

So this week, despite the fact that I have a few projects already going, and despite the fact that I really should be doing house work, I started knitting. While looking for fabric for H to make a pillow, I came across knitting needles. hmmmm, I said. I never could get the hang of this. Guess I’ll try again. So I’m working on a scarf. If it comes out good, I’ll probably give it to Abigail. Maybe save it for Christmas. The kids keep asking what I’m making, and I just say I’m jsut trying to learn to knit, which is true, that way if it doesn’t come out good, they won’t be going around telling everyone how horrible my knitted scarf was, and how I had to throw it away. lol That’s a horrrible, horrible run on sentence. But I have a headache, and don’t feel like fixing it. So just ignore it. lol

I’m off for school work, and some housework. And probably some more knitting. I haven’t felt like scrapping this week. weird.
