It’s Friday!

June 25, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Welcome to Linda’s Lunacy!

This week has found me in the kitchen a lot, menu planning and making Homemade Granola and Homemade Sports Drink.

I also shared how to re-purpose flower arrangements And what I’m reading this week.

I joined Word Filled Wednesday for the first time, sharing one of my favorite verses, with one of my favorite pictures. As well as shared what Bible translation I like to use.

And, of course, I was at the Saturday on the Farm Carnival, and in the garden.

Friday’s mean a chance to meet new people at these blog hops:

Homemade Sports Drink

June 24, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

1 packet any flavor unsweetened Kool-aid or similar other brand for making 2 quarts
8 tablespoons of sugar or 10 packets of sweetener for sugar free
3/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon salt substitute (that contains potassium chloride)
2 quarts water

Place everything in a pitcher and mix well.

I used to make this all the time when the kids were in karate. So much cheaper than store bought sports drinks, and you can make them in the kids favorite flavors.

With it being so hot out, it’s important to keep the kids hydrated, especially if they are participating in sports. And you know they’ll drink it, if they pick the flavor

W.W.W. Wednesday – My Reading List

June 23, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I’m still reading my way through all the homeschool books on my shelf, deciding what to keep and what to trade off on Paperback Swap. (link is in the sidebar, if you’ve never been there before).

Re-Purposing Flower Arrangements

June 22, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Ever since I moved the plants outside for the summer, this corner has been empty. I didn’t know what to do with it, and didn’t want to go buy anything new.

The other day, I thought about it some more, and realized that I had a flower arrangement in my bedroom that would look really nice in the living room.
So I moved it to the living room.

I had also recently acquired the books. Well, they are actually fake books, that open like a box. I could actually store stuff inside the books. I haven’t put anything in there yet, but I just might think of something that I want to hide from the kids. lol

I also found a new home for the guitar that was standing in the corner.

I’m happy with the way it turned out. I haven’t even missed the flower arrangement in the bedroom. I need to remember to do this more often. Re-purposing flower arrangements and knick-knacks is a great, frugal way to redecorate.

Blooming Flowers

June 22, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I went for a nice walk around the yard this morning, to see what was blooming. Here’s what I saw:
The first blooms on the Butterfly Bush. This is the white one that is in front of the house.
Here’s a close-up of the flowers. The stems are going sideways because this is a big bush, and the flowers are above my head. I had to pull it down to take a picture. lol

What’s this, like the 4th week of  Echinacea pictures? I guess I never get tired of taking it’s pictures, as the flowers are so interesting. This picture shows flowers in several different stages.

Here’s a close-up.

The Hyssop that is in the herb garden right behind the house is starting to bloom. I had some in the Bible Garden, also, but it didn’t come back this year. I’m going to move this one to the Bible Garden.

I couldn’t decide which picture to use, so I’m using them both. lol

Well, that’s the tour of my yard as of this morning. The roses still have a few flowers, as do the Day Lillies, and the Hostas.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
