In the Kitchen with Linda & Dinner Menu

November 25, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I had to make homemade turkey sausage for our pizza the other day, so I made extra. I used two 20 ounce packages of ground turkey. I made patties with one package and put them all in the freezer for future meals. With the second package, I made crumbled sausage for pizza.

I had a second bowl, but used it on pizza that night before I took the pizza. The sausage crumbles in the picture went into the freezer for another pizza night. I then made sausage gravy in the pan I cooked the sausage in. The kids ate it for lunch the next day on homemade biscuits.

Making extra when your already making something is such a time saver. You already have all the ingredients out. All the equipment is already dirty, measuring cups, spoons, pans, etc. So for a little extra cooking time, I can put several meals in the freezer. Then I can enjoy less labor intensive meals in the future. That’s my kind of cooking. lol

Now I’m on to planning Thanksgiving Dinner. It’s looking like we’re going to have 15 for dinner. Here’s the menu as it stands now:

Turkey, Ham (brought by attendee), mashed potatoes, stuffing (regular & gluten free), Mac & cheese (brought by an attendee), green beans, corn, creamed onions, cranberry sauce, homemade dinner rolls

Apple Pie, Chocolate Pie, Pumpkin Pie (brought by attendee), homemade whipped cream

If I have time, I also want to make a carrot souffle, and leaf & acorn shaped sugar cookies.

I think all the food should hold the family for a little while. lol We’re eating dinner at 5, so I plan on putting out crudite for lunch. Maybe a few stuffed eggs as well, if I get them made. I plan on serving homemade sausage cheese biscuits for breakfast, so I think that will be enough for lunch. I’m hoping anyway! lol

I’m trying to keep this weeks menu simple on the days leading up to Thanksgiving so we can get the baking done. That’s my goal anyway!

Now…. to answer the question that I get asked about a hundred times a day……….What’s For Dinner? See my menu below!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
