A lot has been happening around here. We’ve been having gorgeous weather here in Kentucky. Although, it did get quite chilly last week for Dogwood Winter. That’s what the old timers call a cold spell that happens while the Dogwood tree is blooming. We have one more “winter” to go, and that would be Blackberry Winter. After that, the chance of frost and cold weather is normally over for the year.
Even though we have had a little bit of colder weather, we had a Dove build a nest in one of our apple trees, and the 2 eggs hatched. I managed to get a picture of one of the babies with momma bird. So cute!
The 2 babies have now flown from the nest. Another momma bird, or the same one, is sitting on the nest again.
In the Garden with Linda
The seedlings that I started indoors all died. I was so sad. Instead of starting more seeds inside, I had my son and my husband build me a greenhouse box right in the garden. Someday, I will have a greenhouse, but for now this works, too. We planted radishes, and three kinds of tomatoes inside. As of yesterday, we had radishes, and a few tomatoes up. The radishes I will leave where they are, the tomatoes will be transplanted to another part of the garden after the threat of cold weather is over. It’s been staying nice and toasty warm inside my little greenhouse box.
I also have peas growing in the garden.
I have a Hawthorn Tree by the garden and it is in full bloom. It is so beautiful!
Look at these little gorgeous flowers! The Hawthorn Tree does get fruit on it, they are called haws. It looks like we will be having a bumper crop this year. I have never made anything with them in the past. If we get a lot, I may try making Hawthorn Jelly.
The Lily of the Valley is blooming in the Bible Garden. They have multiplied a lot this year. There are even a few out of the picture. Just ignore the grass that is growing in the garden.
These little flowers are so dainty and pretty.
Have you planted anything yet? It’s not too late to start planning your garden!

What nice garden pictures! I just love this time of year… the newness of plant growth, the planting of the garden and waiting for the plants to make an appearance, the wonderful weather. I hope you have a great garden experience this year. 🙂
