Calen had a clinic visit this morning. We left the drive way at 7:05. We did stop to top of the gas tank, get Calen some strawberry milk and chips, I got a small package of Milanos. yummmmm Traffic was really light. shocking. We got to the parking garage at 9:05. Stopped at the bathrooms, and went to the clinic. The entire waiting room was empty! very unusual! I said to Heather, the receptionist, “What’d you do with everyone?” lol We signed in, sat down for like 10 seconds, and the nurse, Jill, called Calen’s name. She weighed (73 1/4#) and measured (53 1’4″) and took his bp, and put us in a room. I was still tying Calen’s shoes when Dr. G came in. She kinda freaked me out for a few seconds. She was checking his testicles, and could only find one. But she finally found the other one, said it was because her hands were cold. ROFLOL Guess guys don’t think it’s funny though. LOL Boys can have leukemia cells in the testicles, so they check at every exam to make sure there are not enlargements, to make sure he’s not relapsing there. Betcha didn’t know that! lol We then went back out to the waiting room to wait for Bennita, the absolutely best blood draw’er ever!, to call his name. We sat for a whole 60 seconds this time! lol We got out to our car in the parking garage at 9:40! 35 minutes for the WHOLE visit! When we left, I said to Heather that this must be a record for fastest visit ever! LOL We were in and out so fast, my head was spinning! Certainly MUCH, MUCH better than the 8 am to 6 pm visits, NOT counting the 2 hour drive each way! Sometimes, it would be dark when I left in the morning, and dark when I returned that night!
Anyway, when Jill was weighing and measuring C, she asked about the bag of afghans that I was holding. We haven’t seen Jill in a long time. So I told her about them. Then one of the other nurses, Ann, called down the long hallway, I see you brought us some more pretties!” When Jill put us in the exam room, she took the bag of afghans (7 this time) and took them back to the dr and nurses workstation, instead of putting them in the closet like the other nurses do. So when Dr. G came in, she told me how pretty they were, and how much the kids will like them. And when she left, after the exam, she got out in the hall, then came back and thanked me for making them on behalf of the kids. Said how much the kids would like them when it was chilly in the clinic. She was really sweet!
Anyway, Calen was upset when we left the clinic, because it was too early to stop anywhere for lunch! lol He wanted to wait around for an hour for Taco Bell to open. I nixed that idea. He changed his tactic, and suggested we go shopping, “to that place that you buy scrapbooking stuff” lol Said no to that too. 1, I didn’t have any extra money, and 2 Melissa was babysitting, and Duane was at jury duty. So he was unavailable in the event of an emergency. His Mother was at jury duty too. So we came straight home, got here at 11:30. Turns out they just reported to jury duty, and then were dismissed. D was only gone from home for an hour, including drive time! He stayed home for a little bit, then went into work. He’s through with jury duty for the year. He’s happy about that! lol
So, Calen passed his exam, and doesn’t have to go again until August!
