MyWeek……

November 11, 2005 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

has been totally insane!!!!!

Monday
We went grocery shopping in the morning, came home at 1, and ate lunch. Mel than took one of her muscle relaxers that the oral surgeon gave her. (She has had trouble opening her mouth since she had her wisdom teeth out. It’s all muscular. This was the 2nd muscle relaxer she was on.) About 2 minutes after she took it, she said it was taking effect as she was getting dizzy. I said it can’t be working that fast. She said well it is. Than she laid her head on the table ( she was still eating lunch) I walked into the kitchen, and heard a thud on the floor. Yep she got up to walk to her room, and fell on the floor. I thought she was faking. (she tends to be overly dramatic!) D had just got home early from work, and he help her into bed. Seems the muscle relaxer was working, as she couldn’t move very well. We put her to bed, then went outside to feed the animals. Abigail yelled outside that Melissa needed me, so I came back in. Mel was in bed crying, saying she couldn’t breathe. I questioned Mel, and didn’t get very good answers. D came in and questioned her also. We decided to take her to the drs. I called the dr we use at the end of our road, to see if they could see her or if we needed to take her to the er 30 minutes away. They said to bring her there. So we immediatly loaded everyone in the van, D had to help, pratically carry, Mel to the van. We raced to the clinic at the end of our road. D had to pratically carry her into the clinic. I went ahead to sign her in. I told the desk person, they said where is she? I said her dad’s helping her in. I could tell when they came in the door behind me, as the desk person said “OH NO” and RAN down the hall to get the nurses! They took us right in, and put Mel in the trauma room. She was having a severe allergic reaction to the pills. 2 shots and about an hour later, they let her go home. With instructions for her NEVER to take that med again!

Tuesday

We got to stay home this morning! Except Mel still feels sick after her ordeal yesterday, and 3 other kids has colds (as does D). We went to piano in the afternoon, Mel barely made it through.

Wednesday

We were getting ready to leave this morning, when the water dept guys came to move our water meter from the end of the road to our yard. We wanted it as close to the house as we could get it, less line to maintain. But they wouldn’t bring it that way, as the line would cross the septic line that leaves the house. Even though the water line already goes there, they wouldn’t hook the meter up there. sigh So I called D at work, and he told me to tell them to put it at the other end of our yard, and run it along the ditch, then past the dip in the yard, by the creek until it reaches the house. Then I heard the bull dozer start up. They were going to start diggin in our driveway, and keep digging until they hit the existing water line. I told D on the phone “They starting to dig and I have NO IDEA where your talking about!!” So I went back out to talk to the guys, and try and convey where in the world D was talking about! Then I went back in to call D, but he had already left work to come home. So I told the guys, and left to pick up Granny and my brother to leave. (D actually took a few hours off work to work on the water line. After the water dept hooked the meter up the the line, He had to dig a hole by the corner of the house, to cap off the line that goes across the yard to his parents house. Once they took the meter up, D’s parents didn’t have water anymore, so D stayed to get them hooked back up with their own water line, after the guys put the new meter in their yard.) (There were three houses on the water line, Us, D’s parents, and 1 neighbor. So now I won’t have any water bills to figure! LESS STRESS, as I always worry about trying to figure how much each household has used, and I’m always afraid of over charging someone.)

Then We went to my Aunt Rosie’s funeral. They had the visitation in the morning, followed by the funeral service at 11. Much better than having visitation for 2 nights, than the funeral. We also went to the cemetery. Then we went out to eat at a buffet restaurant with a BUNCH of relatives. We didn’t like the restaurant (the kids and I) not much selection for food, and the place just seemed dirty. It cost $29. for me and the kids (5) to eat! But we had fun visiting with relatives we don’t usually get to see. A lot from out of town. A lot that the kids had never met. Some I hadn’t seen for 25 years. yep, YEARS! We didn’t get home until after 3. We just crashed, as Mel and the cold kids still didn’t feel well. So not much done on the homefront today either.

Thursday

We didn’t go anywhere today! But with 3 sick kids, and Mel still not feeling well, it wasn’t a very productive day. I did work for about an hour in the morning cooking all the pizza toppings, sausage, steak, mushrooms, onions. Then it took several hours in the afternoon to grate the cheese, make the crust from scratch, put them all together, and bake. Homemade pizza is NOT a quick supper, but Oh, so good!
I got the kitchen cleaned up, except for the 7, (yep seven) pizza pans. But not much else accomplished after supper. It just takes so much longer to get anything done, when there are 3 whining , sick kids following you around complaining that they are sick!! I do have compassion for my sick kids! But just go lay down already, and be sick! Whining only makes your sore throat worse!!

Friday

This morning, Mel had a re-check with the oral surgeon. Her jaw is a little better, but he wants her to have physical therapy for it, so she can have full range of motion again. They have xrayed her jaws, and it’s all muscular, no joint damage. Then we get home at about 12, have lunch, and I have to leave at 1:15 to take Abigail to the dr. as she is having ear pain. Yep, an infected left ear. So she’s on meds, and not very happy about it. I also called around to try and find a physical therapist for Mel. The one the oral surgeon recommended doesn’t take her insurance. grrrrr Called practically everyone in the phone book, and NO ONE takes her ins!!! grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!! Oh, I found one place, but its a over an hour away! She is supposed to go 2-3 times a week for 10 visits! The place that was recommended will give us a discounted rate of $40. per session. $400!!! I’m sorry, but I just can’t afford that! So I’m going to call a few more places Monday, and see what I can do about finding her one.

Well, I have to go put supper in the oven.
I think you’ve gotten an idea of the insanity of my week!!

OH NOOOOOOOOO!!!! Ack, Linda! I’m SO THANKFUL you got Mel medical help asap!!! And what a blessing that D was home, too!! Oh man! I’m shaking just thinking of what you all went thru!! I know how fast reactions can knock you flat out. I keep benedryl stocked AT ALL TIMES! It can slow a reaction enough to keep you from getting critical before you get to a doc. (kept T from having to go at all b/c at the time, I also had a steroid inhaler I gave him since his throat was closing!!!!)

Hope you can find a close therapist who takes the insurance. What a mess insurance is!! *grrr!*

    ~Hugs all around!!~

You have friends here! hehe Love, Jennifer

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
