Saturday on the Farm

September 19, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Saturday on the Farm at Linda's Lunacy

I found quite a few interesting things on my walk this week.
It all started on the front porch, where I found my new favorite flower, the Zinna. Here are a few pictures.

See why they’re my new favorite flower?

Then I actually left the porch, lol, and found a Rose bud in the Bible Garden. Oh, as a special treat, there was a spider on it.

While I was taking the picture, I was actually saying out loud “Don’t jump on me, Don’t jump on me.” It worked, it didn’t jump on me. lol
You can see new growth on the second rose bush, but no buds yet.

On to the food! The raspberries have a ton of berries now. Even more than in the spring. See the big, dark one? It was so good! lol

And that’s why the raspberries never make it into the house! Whoever sees that they are ready, picks and eats them. Usually waiting until after they eat them to share the fact that the raspberries are ripe. ahem….
In the vegetable garden, the green beans are getting big. These are our favorite kind. I don’t even know what kind they are, though. lol I do know they were passed down in my kids piano teachers family. She said they were like a half runner, but weren’t a half runner. All I know is they are the best green beans!

And here are a couple of squash plants. The cardboard we put down in the spring has started to break up. The chickens were kind enough to help with that task.

The yellow thing is a trowel. I’m not sure why a trowel was not only left in the garden, but also covered in cardboard. shrugs  At least I know where it is now.

Since most people have finished with their gardens, I’m not going to post a linky this week.  I’m going to end it for this year. I will start posting the linky again in the spring.

If  you are growing a fall garden (or if it’s spring where you are) please post your link in the comments and I’ll be sure to visit.

The raspberries look so tasty Linda. I sure miss farm life, and the poor city garden we have will never compare. I am doing some fall gardening, but right now a huge habanero pepper bush has taken over most of my vegetable spot.

I love Zinnias, too, Linda! I really like that one with the little orange star!
My garden didn't produce this year ~ we've had crazy weather. I planted some things three times and got nothin'! Oh well, I'll try again next spring.
Raspberries are my favorite and, like you, I eat them off the vine before anyone (the deer) can get to them!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
