Saturday on the Farm

October 3, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

It’s been a good week on the farm. The weather has been so nice. It’s been getting down into the 50’s at night. This morning when we got up, it was in the 40’s!
Everything is still growing, though. Here is our big Butterfly Bush in the front yard. This is the bush that I talked about a few weeks ago. After it finished blooming, we trimmed it back. I had read that if you trimmed Butterfly bushes back, that they would bloom again. Can  you see all the new growth and flowers on this bush?

Here’s more of a close-up. Trimming the bushes back really does work. It’s blooming again!

My new favorite flower this summer is the Zinnia. This is the first year that I have grown them. (shocking, I know!)

They are so pretty!

And the butterflies like them, too.

I have them in pots on the front porch. The Butterfly bush above is right off the porch. So it’s like a Butterfly playground out there. We can sit in the living room and see all kinds of butterflies outside the windows.

On the animal front, all is well. The male goat is in rut. Which is a good thing, except we should change his name to Stinky. lol Your alright, as long as you don’t get to close, or stand down wind of him. lol

Next week, I’ll have a picture update of our fall vegetable garden.

I have discontinued the Saturday on the Farm linky until the spring. If you have a garden or farm post that you would like to share, please leave it in the comments.

It looks like life is wonderful on the farm Linda. We are finally getting below 70 at night, and I cannot wait to turn off that a/c.

I enjoyed your blog and most of all the lovely flowers. Your zinnias are lovely. I do not have much luck with them.

Hopping by from Italy for Outdoor Wednesday, what a surprise to find Zinnias, I grew some for the first time here this year.

What a cozy place and beautiful flowers… Have a great day!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
