Your Son Has Cancer

October 21, 2012 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Yesterday was the anniversary of my sons diagnose of cancer. Here are the Facebook status’s I shared.

Friday, the 19th:

On this date in 2000, I got a call from the pediatrician, “The CT Scan showed a mass in your sons chest.” A mass? What kind of mass? “We don’t know. You have an appointment at UK in 3 hours. BE THERE.”

and

So, after talking to the Dr. on the phone, I called Duane at work and told him to come home NOW. Then I called my mother in law to come babysit. We then got in the car and drove the 2 hours to UK. The pediatrician sent us to a pulmonologist. I’m still not sure why she didn’t sent us to oncology. I really felt bad for the guy. He’s used to treating lungs, and the poor guy had to look at our test results and tell us “It’s some kind of cancer. We’re admitting you to the hospital right now.” I still remember how bad this guy felt. He kept coming in and out of the room, like he didn’t know what to do. That’s ok, we didn’t know what to do either! So we were sent over to the hospital and admitted. We were numb. What was happening hadn’t really sunk in yet. We settled in to a hospital room with nothing but the clothes on our back. We didn’t get much sleep that night……

On Saturday, the 20th:

On this date in 2000…….After spending an awful night in the hospital, and finding out the mass in his chest was the size of a grapefruit, today found my son getting a bone marrow biopsy and a spinal tap. Later in the day we were told he had leukemia (ALL to be exact). He started chemo right away. Within one week, he was in remission, and the mass in his chest was gone. Praise the Lord, he has been in remission ever since!! He finished 3 years and 3 months of chemo in December 2003. There is much, much more to the story that doesn’t fit here. The devil tried to take my son out, but God had other plans! My son now spends several hours every week working for the Lord, and has for about 4 years now. To God alone be the glory!!

You’ve been so blessed and it sounds like he has grown up to be a great young man!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
