CardioTech Digital Blood Pressure Monitor Review

November 27, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I recently received the Ozeri CardioTech Pro Series BP5K Digital Blood Pressure Monitor with Voice-Guided Operation & Intelligent Hypertension Indicator to review. This monitor retails for $48.50 and comes with a 5 year warranty. It’s powered by 2 AAA batteries. I’ve been using it for a few weeks, and the batteries are still going strong, so the machine doesn’t drain them very quickly. The monitor comes with a case perfect for daily storage, or packing for trips.

My husband and I both have blood pressure problems that require we check it regularly. We have used an arm cuff in the past, this was my first experience using a wrist cuff. A great feature of this monitor is that it can store up to 180 blood pressure readings. 90 each for two different users.

Using the wrist cuff takes a little getting used to. The direction booklet has the complete instructions on how to place it on your wrist. The correct positioning of the cuff is also printed directly on the cuff. The monitor lets you know verbally if your wrist is in the correct position. The voice guided operation voice is friendly and easy to understand. The automated voice can be adjusted with a volume control, or turned off.

After taking your blood pressure, the voice tells you if your blood pressure is optimal, normal, moderate, or high. The directions booklet has a chart that tells what numbers are within each range. The machine displays the actual number blood pressure, but the voice doesn’t say it. The numbers on the display are really large and the screen has a back light so it is very easy to read.

My mother is a breast cancer survivor who can not have her blood pressure taken on her upper arm. She has to take it on her wrist or her ankle. I had her try this monitor. She found it comfortable and easy to use. For myself and my husband, we found it to be much more comfortable to take our blood pressure on our wrists than with an arm cuff on our upper arms. And it’s easier to place this wrist cuff on one handed, than it is to put on an arm cuff one handed.

If your looking for a new blood pressure monitor, this Ozeri CardioTech monitor is an overall great monitor for everyone. It is especially helpful for those that can’t use upper arm cuffs.

I have been using the CardioTech Blood Pressure Monitor for approximately two weeks. I have been pleased with this monitor and would highly recommend it. The monitor is comfortable to wear and very easy to use. The measurements are accurate and will be useful in my evaluation of my blood pressure.
I was impressed by the ease of use with this particular model, no fiddling around trying to calibrate the device, just press a button on the top of the cuff and it works, no more guessing which button does what.
