We started out this week with a winter storm, with record breaking low temps. Like below zero temps. so, one would think that housebound children would be more apt to get more schoolwork done. haha Not my kids. Any thing is a reason to have a party. And that includes the weather. lol
Oh, they did do their schoolwork, just not anything extra, and not much extra reading. Cold weather is best handled by sitting on the couch, bundled under blankets watching movies. Eating cookies and drinking hot chocolate.
I, on the other hand, was busy buying them a art course to do during the Olympics next month. A Simple Start to Chalk Pastels Winter Olympics. I thought this course looked great and will be a great way to incorporate art into our Olympics study.

One day, Zach and I braved the single digit temp to try a couple of science experiments. We tried throwing boiling water into the air. It was supposed to turn into snow. We tried it twice, and both times, it didn’t look like snow, it just looked like fog to us.

We also tried blowing bubbles. The bubbles were supposed to freeze. Well, ours didn’t. lol

We counted that as two failed experiments. We had fun trying, though! But the only thing we succeed at was making the heat go on. again. lol
Abby’s volleyball practice was cancelled because of bad weather on Monday, (as was band practice on Tuesday, and church on Wednesday). She did have practice last night, and she has two games today. They, unfortunately, lost the first game this morning, 25-22; 25-19.
While we were waiting at the meeting spot for her ride, I handed the camera to her in the backseat and told her to take a picture of herself. She sent it back up with a picture of her foot on it. So I sent it back telling her I needed a picture for the blog. She sent it back with a duck face picture. sheesh! I sent the camera back again, and finally got a decent picture. lol
Hopefully, they win their second game this afternoon. Go Trailblazers!!

We tried the bubble blowing, too. It didn’t work for us. I didn’t try the boiling water because I was afraid I would get wet and not be happy! Sorry it didn’t work for you!
