The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Discussion Guide Review & Giveaway

The guys in my family love watching super hero movies. They just went to see one in the movie theater last weekend. They are really looking forward to seeing Amazing Spiderman 2 when it comes to theaters in May.

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2™, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

I always wonder what a movie contains and if there is any value in watching it. So I was very interested in seeing what the Amazing Spider-Man 2 His Greatest Battle Begins Discussion Guide contained.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Discussion Guide is 5 pages long, and contains 6 readings with discussion questions. With titles such as The Nature of Power, Time is Luck and Life is Precious, Choices and Destiny, and Sacrifice, these readings discuss scenes in the movie. The readings are not too long, each one should take 5 minutes or less to read out loud. Each reading begins with a Bible verse, and ends with questions about what was learned. Most of the readings have three questions, only one has two questions. The questions are not about the movie.  Here are a view sample questions.

  • Have you ever felt like a nobody?
  • How is time valuable to you?
  • What are your talents and abilities?
  • What do you hope for in your future?
  • Think about your life now. How do you sacrifice for others? Who sacrifices for you?

I have used study guides for classic movies as part of our homeschooling. I was very impressed with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Discussion Guide. I guess I was expecting the discussion guide to be all about the movie. And while the movie is discussed, it is so much more. The readings and the questions help the reader, young and old, to dig deep to find out more about themselves, their lives, and their futures. This discussion guide would be great to do together as a family. It can turn a trip to see a block buster movie into a learning event and something that will draw the family closer together.

  2. I think that it will be weird to see Jamie Fox as a bad guy but we are definately excited to see it!

  3. Honestly, I wasn’t too excited for yet another Spiderman movie. I was feeling like it was sooooo over done, and enough. How many have there been in the last decade? But after seeing a preview for it the last time I was at the theatre, I changed my mind. It looks different, and exciting, and I do plan on seeing it (though probably not in the theatre)

  4. Yes my 4 and 14 and 16 year old are all excited to see this but dont think we can afford to take them!
