A Christmas Gift for Rose – Review & Kindle Giveaway

October 12, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

In A Christmas Gift for Rose, Rose is trying to come to terms with the fact that her beau, Jonathon, has left the Amish to fight in the war. Something that is very unusual for an Amish man. Everyone in the community looks at Rose differently now.

She is surprised when she gets word that he is home from the war and hasn’t come to see her yet. She doesn’t have time to deal with all her emotions, though. Her mother comes to her and tells her that she came to live with the family when she was young. After hearing the full story, Rose is shocked to her core when she realizes she’s not Amish by birth.

Lovable Labels 50% off sale!

October 11, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I’ve talked about how great Lovable Labels are in past posts, Lovable Labels 2011 and Lovable Labels 2012. I still use my labels, and so do my kids. They last a very long time on surfaces. I’ve had the same label on my water bottle for 2 years, even through daily use and repeated washings. We’ve used labels on water bottles, toys, books, items for summer camp, and more.

I just got word that Lovable Labels is celebrating their 10th anniversary! To celebrate, they are offering 10 days of deals, including 50% of their most popular items.

The sale runs from October 10th through October 19th. Lovable Labels will also be launching new products during this sale.

In addition to helping you and your kids organize and keep track of everything, personalized labels make great gifts. This sale is a great to start your Christmas shopping. What kid wouldn’t love their own labels?

To find out more information about this sale, check out the daily deal of the day, at the ‘gift tree’ .

You can also sign up for the Lovable Labels newsletter to get their daily offers delivered right to your inbox.

Our Homeschool Week in Review

October 11, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

So our week went something like this:

Saturday- worked at the clothes closet, then spent the afternoon moving furniture out of my father in laws house into our house, and furniture out of our house and into my father in laws house. Yes, it’s was as tiring as it sounds. lol

Sunday was church, morning and night services

Monday & Tuesday – the band practices scheduled for those nights were canceled this week. We did go to the clothes closet on Tuesday night to gather clothes for a family that whose house burnt.

4 teenagers on new to use couch & chair

Wednesday night was church again

Thursday night – Abby went to  a CR meeting at church

Friday, tonight, the youth are having a bonfire get together at church, so Abby & Zach are going to that. My husband & I will be going to the clothes clothes to get some household items for the family whose house burnt.

Saturday, we’ll be working at the clothes closet again.

Monday through Friday found Abby & Zach doing their regular school work, too. The public school here had Fall Break this week. We don’t take a fall break until Thanksgiving. So we’re just steadily working along.

This week, Zach finished reading Jim Elliot One Great Purpose, that’s linked to my review of it. Last night we watched Beyond the Gates of Splendor (affiliate link), documentary on Jim Elliot and the other missionaries he served in Ecuador with.

Jim Elliot: One Great Purpose – Review

October 10, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

As part of the Schoolhouse Review Crew, I recently received the ebook Jim Elliot: One Great Purpose and the Jim Elliot: Unit Study Curriculum Guide from YWAM Publishing to review. I had never heard of YWAM Publishing before receiving this book. So I spent some time on the website checking them out. YWAM Publishing is the publishing division of Youth with a Mission. They offer a great variety of books. From biographies, to international adventure books, to homeschooling, to books on Christian living, and missions. And much more.

In the Kitchen with Linda & Dinner Menu

October 7, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I got two more batches of applesauce made. With the help of my family, of course. They picked them, washed them, and cut most of them. Then I take over with the cooking. With these batches, I taught my daughter, 17, how to use the Food Press. (Affiliate Link) Then I took back over to sweeten and can.

This batch was 13 quarts, with about a pint left over for eating.

Saturday on the Farm – The View From My Front Porch

October 6, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Today I’m sharing The View From My Front Porch. Fall is definitely here in Kentucky. In this first picture, you can see a little fall color. The Hardy Hibiscus in the middle of the picture is changing color. Behind that, you can see a few branches sticking out of the ground. That was another Hibiscus that has already lost it’s leaves. You can also see lots of leaves on the ground along the tree line.

The Petunias on the porch are still blooming. I’m surprised, actually. The three pumpkins are ones that grew in our compost pile. They are finishing ripening on the porch as the vine died. They will soon become pureed pumpkin in my freezer.  🙂

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
