Read the Bible in 90 Days

June 22, 2011 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Bible in 90 Days

Mom’s Tool Box is starting a new session of Read The Bible in 90 Days.

I participated in The Bible in 90 Days reading challenge last summer, and completed it in October 2010.

I found the challenge very rewarding. It is quite the challenge, though. Every days reading is 12 pages long. Which may not sound too bad and most days it isn’t. Reading the genealogies was the hardest part for me.

Reading the Bible in 90 Days is very doable!

A new session is starting on July 11th.  I highly recommend the challenge for everyone. Visit Mom’s Toolbox to sign up.

The Bible in 90 Days – Week 5

February 1, 2011 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Today is Day 29 of the Bible in 90 Days Reading Challenge.

And I am up to date with my reading! I did have to read two days yesterday, though.

We are now in 1Chronicles. I find the genealogies hard to get through. Although Chronicles is easier to read than Numbers and Leviticus, with all their repetition.

I want to try and read a couple of extra chapters every day this week. We have a busy weekend coming up, and I don’t want to get behind.

As far as the kids, well, they are still behind. I’m not pressuring them. If they don’t complete the reading in 90 days, then can try again another time.

If your participating in the challenge, I’d love to hear how your doing!

The Bible in 90 Days Week 4 Check-in

Today was Day 22 of the Bible in 90 Days Reading Challenge.

Last week I told you how we were behind in our reading. Well, I’m happy to say that I am caught up! You can go from being several days behind to being caught up. It just takes extra time and work. Of course, it’s much easier to stay caught up. Sometimes, though, life does conspire to keep us from reading the whole section every day.

As far as the kids, well, they are still behind. My son, 16,  is, I think, 2 days behind. My daughter, 15,  is more than that behind. I’m trying not to pressure them too much. They read their Bibles every day, even without this challenge, and I don’t want to do anything to make then not want to read their Bibles. So if they don’t finish in 90 days, that’s ok with me. Of course, I will encourage them to finish. I have even offered them a reward for finishing in 90 days. 🙂

Last week, my youngest son whose 10, was studying his Bible Drill verses. He kept saying them than asking me if they were right. I told him that I didn’t have his Bible Drill verses memorized, and he said “Well, you should, you read the Bible in 90 Days!”

Wow, I wish that I did have the whole Bible memorized. How cool would that be?! Alas, that’s not likely to happen for me.

If your participating in the challenge, I’d love to hear how your doing!

The Bible in 90 Days Week 3 Check-in

Today was Day 15 of the Bible in 90 Days Reading Challenge.

I’m sad to say that I only finished Day 12 today.

Lots of things conspired to keep me from completing each days readings. That’s life, I guess.

I have to say, I will be glad to get out of Numbers. I have a hard time with Leviticus and Numbers. I find them hard to get through. There is a lot of information packed into those 2 books, which contain a lot of repetition. And the names. sigh I’m so not good with pronouncing the names. At least I’m not reading out loud. It takes me considerably longer to try and say the names out loud. It’s pretty funny, I guess, because I never say the names the same way twice. lol

Anyway, I’ve had a hard week, but I plan on catching up by next week. At the next check in, I will be caught up!

If your participating in the challenge, I’d love to hear how your doing!

Bible in 90 Days Week 2 Check-In

Today was Day 8 of the Bible in 90 Days Reading Challenge. I am happy to say that I am up to date with my reading!

My daughter, 15, has come down with a cold. Why is it that just a cold can make us so miserable? Needless to say, she was unable to complete todays reading. She has only missed today, so I’m sure she’ll catch up with minimum difficulty.

My son, 16, has been very diligent with his reading. He gets up in the morning, and does the reading first thing. For a teenage boy that says he doesn’t like reading, that’s huge. Well, he always reads his Bible, just not this much. 🙂

Here’s a tip that I found useful when reading for this challenge:

If I know that I have a busy day coming up and will have a hard time fitting in the days reading, I plan ahead.
I will read 2 or 3 extra chapters a day until I am a day ahead. Then I can take the day off without getting behind.

There are 2 grace days built into the challenge, but I like to save those for later, and not use them in the beginning. 🙂

If your participating in the challenge, I’d love to hear how your doing!

Bible in 90 Days Week 1 Check-in

Today was Day 1 of the Bible in 90 Days Reading Challenge. I completed the challenge last year, and I’m excited to do it again.

This time, 2 of my kids are joining me! My daughter, 15, signed up, and I think she is going to blog about it. My son, 16, did not officially sign up, but he is reading with us. He said that I could blog about his progress. I love it when my kids give me permission to blog about them! lol

All three of us completed todays reading. 🙂

Easy check in this week! lol I hope we can all keep up the pace over the next week.

One problem I had last time, was reading in my study Bible. I’m always stopping to read the notes, instead of just reading. So I’m going to by a Bible with no notes soon, so I won’t keep getting sidetracked.

Did you join the challenge? Are  you starting your own Bible reading plan for the new year? I’d love to hear about it!

I participated in The Bible in 90 Days reading challenge last fall, and completed it! I posted  weekly updates for the Bible in 90 Days Challenge, that you can read if you want to see how I did.

I found the challenge very rewarding. It is quite the challenge, though. Every days reading is 12 pages long. Which may not sound too bad and most days it isn’t. Reading the genealogies was the hardest part for me.

A new session is starting next week, on Monday, January 3rd.  I highly recommend the challenge for everyone. In fact, my two teenagers are going to join me in the challenge! Visit Mom’s Toolbox to sign up.

I’m really looking forward to reading through the Bible in 90 Days again! Won’t you join me?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
