Bible in 90 Days – Final Check-in

October 5, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I did it! I finished the Bible in 90 Days Challenge! I finished last Friday, October 1, on day 89!

I did get behind, and have to read 2 and 3 sections a day to finish on time.

I am so glad I found the Bible in 90 Days Challenge. It is just that, a challenge. It’s very challenging to read that much of the Bible every day.

But it is so incredibly worth it!

You really do see the overall theme of the chapters when you read it all at once. When you reading a chapter or two a day, your down in it. When your reading 12 pages a day, your up above, looking down, and you see things that you don’t see when your down in each chapter individually.

When I read the Bible, I like to read all the notes, too. So while reading for this challenge, I had a hard time skipping the notes. lol

And I never did get my family trained to not interrupt while I was reading. I started reading with a post it not in my hand, so when I was interrupted, I could put the post it where I was. I could then come back to the exact spot with out having to spend 10 minutes trying to find where I left off. Once I started doing that, it relieved a lot of the frustration I felt from being constantly interrupted.

Not to say that my family shouldn’t have learned to not interrupt when I was reading the Bible. My kids aren’t little anymore. The youngest is 10, so they could gone longer than two minutes with out talking to me. Especially the adults. Anyway, the post it note was a major discovery for me. lol

I highly recommend the Bible in 90 Days Challenge. They are starting the next Challenge in January. My 14 year old daughter had wanted to do this last challenge, but because of camp, couldn’t participate. I think she will do it next time. I would also like to get my 15, soon to be 16, year old son to do it. They are required to read their Bibles for 30 minutes every day for school anyway, so this would easily fit into their schedule.

I might do it again then, too! For now I’m going to go back and finish a study on Ruth that I stopped to do this challenge. We’re also starting a womens Bible study at church again soon. I’m hoping that I’m able to attend, as I really like those.

And now that I have completed the challenge, I get to order the bracelet I have been wanting! That is my reward for completing the challenge. But really, just reading the God’s word is reward enough!

Where coming into the home stretch now! Today is day 85 of the 90 day Challenge!
I am a little behind, but catching up! Today is finished Day 81. So as of right now, I’m 4 days behind.
I have 7 reading selections left. If I read 2 sections a day, I will finish on Friday, Day 89.
That sounds good to me! But who knows? I may read more, and finish earlier!
I’ll see you in a few days when I finish!

Bible in 90 Days – Week 11 Update

September 14, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

It’s the beginning of Week 11!

Due to the holiday last week, I didn’t do an update. Now here we are at the beginning of week 11. I am behind in my reading, for the second week in a row.

I am trying to read 2 sections most days so I can get caught up.

I will not quit. I plan on finishing on schedule.  I have really benefited from participating in The Bible in 90 Days. Therefore, I will keep reading until I finish.

I’m looking forward to this weeks reading! Which will be extra challenging! And extra rewarding!

Bible in 90 Days – Week 9 Update

August 31, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

It’s the beginning of Week 9!

Well, I’m behind. I had a sinus infection last week, that just knocked me for a loop.  So I’m behind.

I have finished up through Day  52. I should be on Day 57 today.  That’s  5  days behind. ugh    But I have a plan!

I plan on reading extra every day to catch up. Guess I better plan on reading 2 days worth every day. Then I would be caught up by the weekend.  I definitely plan on being caught up by next Monday.

I’m looking forward to this weeks reading! Which will be extra challenging! And extra rewarding!

Bible in 90 Days – Week 8 Update

August 24, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

It’s the beginning of Week !

I’m still doing well with my reading. I’m glad I read extra during the week, because I needed that cushion this weekend.

I will have another busy Saturday this coming weekend, so I will be reading a couple extra chapters each day again.  I’d rather work ahead a little, then try and catch up when I get behind.

I loved reading Psalms, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes.  I’m now in Isiah, and it’s a lot of prophecy.

My kids are amazed that I have read so much My 14 yo daughter had wanted to participate, also. But due to her busy summer schedule, she would have been unable to keep up. I expect her to participate in the next round. Who knows? I might do it again with her! Can you ever read the Bible through too many times? I don’t think so!

I’m looking forward to this weeks reading!

Bible in 90 Days – Week 7 Update

August 16, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

It’s the beginning of Week 7!

As of today, I’m caught up! I got behind again over the weekend so I had to read 2 days worth today. I love Psalms, though, so it wasn’t hard.

It took a lot longer then it should have, as I kept getting interrupted. Such is life. 🙂

I’m so excited to be reaching the halfway mark! The first time I read through the Bible, it took me about a year. To reach the halfway mark so soon amazes me!

Since I still have not been feeling well, I have lots of sitting down time to read. I’m thankful for the time to read the Bible in 90 Days.

I’m looking forward to this weeks reading!

Bible in 90 Days – Week 6 Update

August 10, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

It’s the beginning of Week 6!

Last week I mentioned that I’d been having a hard time keeping up with my reading on the weekends. So this past week, I tried reading an extra 2 or 3 chapters a day to get ahead.

By the Thursday, I was a full days reading ahead of schedule.

And did I need it this weekend! I only did one days worth of reading over the weekend.

I have now finished todays reading, and I read 4 extra chapters in Job.

So, even though I didn’t do all the reading over the weekend, I’m caught up today, and a little ahead for tomorrow. 🙂

I have to say, I’m glad to be out of all those names! I know God put all those names in the Bible for a reason. I just wish I could pronounce the names correctly, instead of butchering them the way I do.

I used to always read the Bible sitting on my bed. Now though, with the longer readings, I’m sitting in the living room on the couch so I’m more comfortable. For at least 3 days this week, I did my reading at the dining room table. I was busy canning corn, so I sat at the table which is only about 3 feet away from the kitchen stove. That way I could keep an eye on the canning, while still doing my reading

I’m looking forward to this weeks reading!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
