Bible in 90 Days – Week 5 Update

August 3, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I can’t believe I’m starting Week 5!

I stayed up to date all last week, until the weekend. Saturday we had our son’s 10th birthday party, then went to our married daughters house for a cookout that evening. I didn’t get any reading done Saturday.

On Sunday, I did Saturdays reading, and half of Sundays. I’m thinking if I read a couple (or a few) extra chapters every day, I won’t get behind on the weekends. I’m finding the weekends harder than during the week. Has anyone else found that out?

I have to say, I will be glad to finish all the genealogies. I did notice in todays reading, that there were very few names repeated. I found that interesting. Now a days, there are a lot of people with the same names. Oh well, I just thought it was interesting.

Bible in 90 Days – Week 4 Update

July 27, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I stayed up to date all last week, until Friday. I was only able to finish half of Fridays reading. Then on Saturday, due to a clothes giveaway at church, I was unable to read at all.

Thankfully, on Sunday, I completed 2 1/2 days to get caught up.

I have finished todays reading, through 2 Samuel 12:10.

I do find that the earlier in the day I start, the easier it is to finish. I’m still trying to train my family not to interrupt when I’m reading the Bible. Yeah, it’s not going so well. I’ve resorted to a quick “I can’t talk now” and going back to my reading. I don’t have little ones, my youngest will be 10 in 2 days. They are all old enough to wait until I’m done reading. Even the adults. lol  So I continue to train them. lol Maybe by the end, they’ll learn!

Bible in 90 Days – Week 3 Update

July 19, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I’ve now completed two weeks of read the Bible in 90 days. I’m right on schedule, reading in Deuteronomy. I have been able to finish my reading every day. Most days, I read the section straight through. There have been a couple of days where I have split the reading up, though. Reading the Bible at such a fast pace is new to me. I keep having to stop myself from reading the notes, or looking something up in the middle of reading, like I usually do.

I do find Leviticus and Numbers hard books to read through. We started celebrating the Biblical Feats last year, so I do enjoy learning more about them every time I read the Bible.

But the names! Oh, how I get stuck on the names! Reading to myself, it’s not as bad, but when I have read these chapters out loud to the kids it can get quite interesting! lol I can never seem to pronounce a name the same way twice! lol

Bible in 90 Days

July 12, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

We are one week into reading Bible in 90 days. I have finished today’s reading, so I am right on schedule! I have been finishing chapters, though, instead of stopping in the middle. So, I guess, I’m a few verses ahead of schedule. lol

I am finding it a little challenging, but I’m enjoying it. The hardest part is trying to read uninterrupted. I’m going to have to work on everyone so they know that if I have my Bible, don’t interrupt unless it’s an emergency. I usually do my Bible reading in my bedroom, but since these readings are long, I’ve been sitting in the living room, where it’s more comfortable. So everyone thinks I’m available.

I did try one day to break the reading up, do a little at a time. That just didn’t work for me. I prefer to read it in one sitting.

I found this blog the other day, with a Top 10 Bible in 90 Days Tip List

One of the suggestions was to give your self a reward at the end for completing the Bible in 90 Days.

So, I’m going to do that. You see, I’ve been wanting this bracelet for quite some time. I just could not justify spending $25 on a bracelet, though. When I finish reading the Bible in 90 Days, I will buy myself this bracelet. Here it is in white:

They used to have it in black, but I don’t see it on the site now. I have no color preference, really, I just like the promises.

So, that’s my Read the Bible in 90 Days Week One update.

How’d you do?

I’m joining the Bible in 90 Days summer reading session over at Moms Toolbox.

Since today is the first day, there is not much to report. I did do my reading this morning, Genesis Chapters 1-16, though.

I have read through the Bible before. It took about a year. We are also about 3/4 of the way through reading the Bible out loud with the kids. This is separate from the first time I read the Bible through. So I have actually read through the Bible 1 and 3/4 times. lol

I’m looking forward to the challenge of reading the Bible in 90 days.

It’s not to late to join the Bible in 90 Days at Mom’s Toolbox.

(um….yeah….that’s not my Bible in the picture….I used it because I would love to have a scroll. 🙂   )

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
