Goat Update

January 15, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!

There were 2 more baby goats in the barn this morning!

That makes 6 kids born in just over 24 hours!

The twin boy is drinking from a bottle and doing well. The children tried to get him to nurse today, but his mother wouldn’t have any part of it and ran off. They tried to get the other mothers to let him, but they wouldn’t.

So it looks like we have a bottle kid. We’ve never had one before, so we have to learn everything about it.

The children are loving having a baby goat in the house!

We Have Goat Kids!

January 14, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

At about 2 in the morning, our oldest son woke us up telling us that a goat was yelling. “Yoda” kidded and had a light brown headed girl.

This morning at about 11, “Deb” kidded and had a dark brown with black headed little girl.

Two goats kidding in one day! We’ve never had that happen before.

Then this afternoon, the children went out to check on the kids and found that “Fancy” kidded. She had twins out int he field on the snow!

That brings us up to 3 goats kidding in one day!

Unfortunately, they had been there for awhile. The kids brought them down the hill to the barn and wiped them down with a towel. When Duane got home about 30 minutes later, he brought them in the house. The little girl died a few minutes after coming in.

The little boy is in a box in the kitchen. We put him on a heating pad until he warmed up. Duane milked Fancy and got a little colostrum to feed him. They just fed him some cows milk, and he ate quite a bit from a medicine dropper.

We will go buy a baby bottle and whole milk in the morning. Hopefully, he lives through the night.

We have 2 goats left to kids, wonder when they will kid?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
