Our Homeschool Week in Review

February 5, 2011 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

We had a pretty great week!
I think this is our third week in a row where no one had a cold!
It's so much easier to keep up our routines when the kids feel good. Since we've had one cold after another since October, it's been pretty rough. We're so ready for spring.
We did have some warmer temps this week, and the kids got to go for a couple of long walks down the road with Grandma. They even rode their bikes on one of the walks.  I'm happy when PE involves something other than climbing the walls and jumping off the furniture. lol

Our Homeschool Week in Review

January 28, 2011 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

We had a nice, quiet homeschool week. Just the way I like it. 🙂
We are continuing with reading the Bible in 90 Days. I caught up from last week, and am trying to stay that way. The 16 and 15 year olds are behind. I am, of course, encouraging them to work on catching up. I am, not, however, putting too much pressure on them to finish in 90 days. They read their Bibles every day, even before starting the challenge. So I want to be careful to make sure they don't get burned out and not want to read daily anymore.

Our Homeschool Week in Review

January 22, 2011 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I was sick a few days this week, so school just kind of flowed.  🙂  The 3 of us working on reading the Bible in 90 Days got a little behind, some more than others, but we should all be caught up by Monday. That’s the plan anyway.
My oldest daughter had some old laptops given to her so she gave them to her brother who loves computers. He was able to get one of them working. Here he is with his “new” laptop, wireless mouse, and cell phone. He’s all set. lol  He’s the techie in the family, and has been able to fix most of the old computers given to him.

My daughter has the book Tiny Treats from the American Girl Collection and it has some really cute tiny foods they can make. Abby decided to make a cake out of pop-tarts that was in the book.

She only put sprinkles on half the “cake” so for those that didn’t want them. She used 3 pop-tarts and vanilla frosting layered. She had fun making it, and sharing it!

All in all, we had a good week. We will, however, be glad when the colds stop visiting our house!

Our Homeschool Week in Review

January 15, 2011 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

The highlight of our homeschool week was snow… and more snow….and more snow. And the cold! Today finally got above freezing. Is winter over yet?

I think the cats are telling me to get rid of the snow!

Oh, yes, we have yet another cold running rampant through the house. That makes for some pretty miserable kids.

Normally, we let the sick child have off school. Since we’ve had one cold after another for several months now, I’m wondering if I should rethink this. Of course, the kids are not. lol

Despite the sickness, and the snow day that we had on Wednesday when Dad was home because he couldn’t get out to work, we did manage to get some school work done.

The living room continues to be the favorite room in the house for working.

She looks warm and cozy.

We finished the 3-D puzzle from that we started last week. We now have another puzzle started on the schoolroom table.  We like having one out  all the time. People (including Mom & Dad) go over when ever whenever they feel like working on it. More often than not, when one person is working, others come join the fun.

Our Homeschool Week in Review

January 8, 2011 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Our first week of homeschool for the year has gone quite well. There were only a couple of instances at the beginning of the week with attitudes and not wanting to work.

I had one student that has been trying to get out of school work by cleaning her room. That is quite the dilemma. Do I let her keep cleaning her room that so desperately needs it, or do I make her stop cleaning and do her schoolwork. hmmmmm…….

Well, her floor can now be seen. lol She did also complete most of her school work. A win-win situation. 🙂

I’m participating in the Read the Bible in 90 Days Challenge that started Monday. What has made this even more exciting, is that my two teenagers are participating in the challenge also! The daily readings take about 45 minutes. Then they have to spend at least 30 minutes studying their Bible Drill memory verses.  My daughter actually spends closer to an hour studying. So a good portion of their morning is devoted to the Bible.

The younger two kids have to spend 30 minutes studying their Bible Drill verses every day as well. They are in the same group this year, so they are able to study together. It’s really cute seeing them study together. Until they start fighting. lol

The kids started a puzzle last weekend. So all week, they could be found at the school room table working on it. I normally work on puzzles, too. But this one is hard. Hard on the eyes. It’s a 3D puzzle, and it hurts my eyes just looking at it, never mind trying to find pieces. But the kids and their father are enjoying it.

Overall, it’s been a nice, peaceful 1st week back to school.

Homeschool Week in Review – Week 10

October 9, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

This week, I’m going to put the sd card in the computer, and do a pictorial update this week. So, here we go, the pictures I found on my card from the last week.

Abby turned 12! She had a great time at her party. Which included Marshmallow Dodgeball. That counts as PE! lol

I found more lego pictures on my card. lol The boys like to take tons of pictures of what they have built.

Ah yes, who can forget the chipmunk in the house?! You can read The House Trap for the full story. And yes, the little chipmunk was safely returned to the wild.

This was funny the other day, when my son came in the house with a stow away in his sweatshirt.

The cat enjoyed the ride, and stayed in there for a good 15 minutes before jumping out. Our cats love attention. lol They will even let themselves be wrapped up in blankets as babies. lol

The other morning, Zach 10, started yelling “This looks like Kentucky! This looks like Kentucky!” while eating breakfast.  It sure does!  Geography – Check!

And for the record, it’s very hard to take a picture of a cereal flake. lol

Hannah, the official challah bread baker in this house, made challah bread again today for the Sabbath. This stuff is so good, and she does an excellent job.

And, yes, we eat a whole loaf at one meal. Every Friday night.
We also accomplished all our book work. Since the weather was so nice this week, the kids got lots of PE time outside. With actual running and bike riding. Not just Marshmallow Dodgeball!

Oh, Money Saving Mom has a post on Educational Freebies and Deals if your in the market for such things. 🙂

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
