Before the Wrath DVD Review & Giveaway

September 3, 2020 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Have you heard of the term eschatology? Eschatology is a branch of theology concerned with the final events in the history of the world or of humankind. In other words, the end times.

In this inspirational documentary, Before the Wrath, you’ll hear from researchers, anthropologists, theologists and eschatologists about newly discovered evidence from the time of Christ. This new evidence reveals how and why the rapture must occur. You will also see new biblical insight that gives us hope and helps us to prepare for what’s coming.

Before_the_Wrath_Shot05

Before the Wrath starts with Jesus, where he lived, the people, the culture. Not only was Jesus a Jew, he was a Galilean. So were all his disciples. The Galileans had developed their own customs, different from the rest of the area where they lived. Jesus spoke to his disciples and his followers, referencing these customs, so they all knew exactly what he was talking about.

We, as modern day Christians, do not know about these customs. So we often miss these references.

The discussion of the Last Supper and communion is fascinating. It covers some cultural comparisons between a Galilean wedding and the last supper that I have never heard before. But that makes so much sense now!

The way the betrothed couple behaves after the betrothal compared to Jesus, what he says at the Last Supper, and what he says about returning are extremely similar when compared culturally.

Before the Wrath

No one knew the day and the hour of a Galilean wedding. Not even the bride and the groom. Only the father. It was a surprise wedding! Wow. See the comparison?

We’re not supposed to deal with the actual date. We are supposed to deal with the preparation.

The symbolism of the bridegroom going to his bride is breath taking when you see how the wedding ceremony compares to Jesus’s return.

Satan hates marriage because of what it represents. A microcosm of what awaits in heaven. A picture of what will be fulfilled when it comes (the rapture).

In discussing marriage, some of the statistics given were alarming to me. You can tell Satan hates marriage, and will do anything to stop or end it.

I am fascinated with this film! In case you couldn’t tell by the number of times I said fascinated. lol  I have just barely touched on the topics covered. It’s going to take more than one watching, for sure! You are going to want to get the DVD so you can watch it multiple times. I know I do!

Paul Apostle of Christ – Review & Giveaway

July 15, 2018 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I sat down in the living room the other night to watch Paul, Apostle of Christ with my husband. We started it at about 9 pm while waiting for some of our kids to get home. Which was totally a bad time to start watching a movie. lol The movie starts out slow, and I just couldn’t follow it. I thought it was just me, but my husband said he had trouble follow it as well. So we turned it off to try another day. A few days later we tried again.

Paul Apostle of Christ Movie Review

We were right about the it moving slow in the beginning. But we were able to follow the story line a lot better the 2nd time around.  I should know better than to start a movie that late. lol Thankfully, they included several story line screens that really helped us follow along.

Paul Apostle of Christ Movie Review

Paul, Apostle of Christ starts when Paul is already in prison, and ends with his death. It is not set entirely in the prison. The story also follows Priscilla, Aquila, and Luke, to name a few. So we see them outside of the prison, in their community, with others. We see the difficult days of early Christianity, and the effect of Emperor Nero’s persecution of the early church.

Paul Apostle of Christ Movie Review

Paul, played by James Faulkner, who goes from the most infamous persecutor of Christians to Christ’s most influential apostle, is spending his last days in a dark and bleak prison cell awaiting execution by Emperor Nero. Luke, played by Jim Caviezel, his friend and physician, risks his life when he ventures into Rome to visit him. Paul is under the watchful eye of Mauritius, played by Oliver Martinez, the prison’s prefect, who seeks to understand how this broken old man can pose such a threat. But before Paul’s death sentence can be enacted, Luke resolves to write another book, one that details the beginnings of “The Way” and the birth of what will come to be known as the church. Their faith challenged an empire. But their words changed the world.

Paul, Apostle of Christ is written and directed by Andrew Hyatt, and also stars Joanne Whalley and John Lynch.

Paul Apostle of Christ Movie Review

While Paul, Apostle of Christ does start out slow, it definitely gets better! While I would have liked to see more of Paul’s story, how his name change came about for example, this is a very enjoyable movie. This movie is rated PG-13 for violence. There are a few scenes that kids might find disturbing. I suggest watching it yourself first, to be sure it’s something you want your kids to see, and that your kids can handle it.  Check out the trailer.

Steps of Faith Movie Review and Giveaway

June 6, 2018 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

*I watched a screener copy of this movie for free online to facilitate this review.
What would you do if God told you to pack up and move to a new city? What if you had to walk up to someone and tell them that God told you to come work for them?

Both of those things would be hard, wouldn’t they? Outside of our comfort zone for most of us.

But that’s exactly what happened to the main character, Faith, in Steps of Faith.

Steps of Faith

Steps of Faith opens with Faith getting toilet papered by a boy at church. lol She does not have a good track record of working with kids.

When Faith tells her family that God wants her to move and work with kids, they are not supportive. They point out that she doesn’t go to church more than once a month, and how she doesn’t even like kids or animals. After that argument with her parents, she asks God for one more sign that this is really what He wants her to do. The next day at work, her boss asks her to send a check to Steps of Faith. That’s her sign to go. She goes to her parents again to seek their blessing on her move. They are still not supportive of her.

“If this is your calling, than what does it matter how we feel about it.” – Mom

“Are you going to move even if we don’t give you are blessings?” – Dad

“Yes” – Faith

“Well, then there’s your answer.” – Dad

“I’m leaving on Wednesday” – Faith

“Are you two just going to let her walk out the door? You sit in service every Sunday, but because your daughter is following the voice of God you’re ready to shoot the messenger. I might just have to rethink this whole religious thing. I sit in service every Sunday, I feed the homeless, I help take care of the elderly, but I have never actually heard God’s voice. Not once.” – Faith’s sister

That’s powerful stuff. Are you ready and willing to follow God no matter what? Even if your family doesn’t want you to? Or believe that you heard from God?

Watch the official Steps of Faith trailer…..

After that argument with her parents, Faith meets with her pastor for advice.

“God puts these obstacles in our path so we don’t go around feeling like saints” – pastor

Then she does move. Unfortunately it doesn’t go any smoother for her after arriving at Steps of Faith. They won’t hire her even after she told them that God told her to come work for them.

“This is all a little to cuckoo for me. Check back in 6 months.” – Belle

So she does the only thing that she can do. She goes back every day until they do hire her.

“God told me I that I was supposed to be doing this.” – Faith

“Well He didn’t tell me.” – Belle

“I’ll be back everyday until you hire me. See you tomorrow.” – Faith

Check out this exclusive clip!

And the owner does finally do hire her. To muck out the stalls.

Check out this second exclusive clip. This scene cracks me up. lol

Faith is ok with mucking out the stalls since she does not have a good track record of working with kids. So even though she follows what God told her to do, by moving and getting a job at Steps of Faith, she avoids working with the children there. She finally has no choice but to start, though.

After a child gets almost gets hurt on her watch, Faith gets discouraged and goes home. Her father gives her an encouraging talk that ends with:

“It’s time for you to pick yourself up and go get what God has for you.”     (Very wise advice for anyone.)

Faith does just that. Returning to Steps of Faith, working hard, getting certified in hippo-therapy, and getting married to the owner of Steps of Faith.

The main themes of Steps of Faith, now on DVD, are faith, purpose, and relationships. Even though it’s called a dramedy, there is not a lot of comedy in the movie. There were a couple of scenes that I laughed at, and a few more that made me chuckle. But it’s not a belly laugh comedy.  Starring Charles Malik Whitfield, Chrystee Pharris, Irma P. Hall, it is rated PG. There is no language or violence in the movie. I think the PG rating is because of a couple of kisses, between Faith’s parents, and Faith & Marshall.

I recommend Steps of Faith for the whole family.

Same Kind of Different As Me – Movie Review & Ticket Giveaway

October 12, 2017 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

As a mom, I am always on the looking for good movies with a good message to share with my family. I love sharing good movies with you, also. That’s why I have done numerous movie reviews in the past.

Same Kind of Different as Me

This time I am sharing about a movie that I haven’t even seen yet. The Same Kind of Different as Me opens in theaters on October 20, 2017. The Same Kind of Different as me is from Paramount Pictures/ PureFlix. My family and I have loved every PureFlix movie so far. I highly recommend them all. That’s why I am so excited about sharing this new movie with you.

Same Kind of Different as Me

The Same Kind of Different as Me is a drama starring Greg Kinnear, Renée Zellweger, Djimon Hounsou, and Jon Voight. It is rated PG-13, so has a higher rating than most of the movies I recommend for the family. This movie earned it’s rating for thematic elements including some violence and language.

Same Kind of Different as Me

Same Kind of Different as Me

“Nobody can help everybody, but everybody can help somebody.” Words of wisdom from a homeless drifter; words that never would be shared with the world if not for a wayward husband, a forgiving wife, and an unforgettable true story that brought the three of them together.
With more money than they could ever possibly need, Ron and Debbie Hall have everything they could ever want … except for a loving marriage. When Ron’s unfaithfulness is brought to light, Debbie invites him to stay—as long as he remains truthful and does what she asks of him. But when her request includes serving the homeless at an inner-city rescue mission, Ron would prefer to write a large check instead. Guided by her faith and spurred on by the dream of a homeless man she senses will change their city, Debbie befriends a disenfranchised man named Denver. More surprisingly, so does Ron. Despite vast differences, their lives begin to intersect and they all are changed … forever.

Watch the official Same Kind of Different as Me movie trailer:

The Same Kind of Different as Me movie has several themes running through out it:  Serving, Marriage, Faith, Unity, Reconciliation, Friendship, Purpose.  All great themes for a family movie. It think it’s going to be awesome to see them all together in one movie. Check out this behind the scenes video.

In addition to the trailer, and the behind the scenes video, I was able to watch an exclusive sneak peek of Same Kind of Different as Me. I loved the scene where Debbie took women from the rescue mission back to her hair salon for makeovers. It’s a very touching scene of helping others feel like they are worth something again.

Same Kind of Different as Me

I am really looking forward to going to the theater to see Same Kind of Different as Me with my family.
