Give my husband a new wife, and let it be me.

January 10, 2007 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Lord, help me to be a good wife. I fully realize that I don’t have what it takes to be one without Your help.

Take my selfishness, impatience, and irritability and turn them into kindness, long-suffering, and the willingness to bear all things.

Take my old emotional habits, mindsets, automatic reactions, rude assumptions, and self-protective stance, and make me patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled.

Take the hardness of my heart and break down the walls with Your battering ram of revelation. Give me a new heart and work in me Your love, peace, and joy (Galations 5:22,23). I am not able to rise above who I am at this moment. Only You can transform me.

Show me where there is sin in my heart, especially with regard to my husband. I confess the times I’ve been unloving, critical, angry, resentful, disrespectful, or unforgiving toward him.

Help me to put aside any hurt, anger, or disappointment I feel and forgive him the way You do—totally and completely, no looking back.

Make me a tool of reconciliation, peace, and healing in this marriage. Enable us to communicate well and rescue us from the threshold of separation where the realities of divorce begin.

Make me my husband’s helpmate, companion, champion, friend, and support. Help me to create a peaceful, restful, safe place for him to come home to. Teach me how to take care of myself and stay attractive to him. Grow me into a creative and confident woman who is rich in mind, soul, and spirit. Make me the kind of woman he can be proud to say is his wife.

I lay all my expectations at Your cross. I release my husband from the burden of fulfilling me in areas where I should be looking to You.

Help me to accept him the way he is and not try to change him. I realize that in some ways he may never change, but at the same time, I release him to change in ways I never thought he could. I leave any changing that needs to be done in Your hands, fully accepting that neither of us is perfect and never will be. Only You, Lord, are perfect and I look to You to perfect us.

Teach me how to pray for my husband and make my prayers a true language of love. Where love has died, create new love between us.

Show me what unconditional love really is and how to communicate it in a way he can clearly perceive. Bring unity between us so that we can be in agreement about everything (Amos 3:3).

May the God of patience and comfort grant us to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus (Romans 15:5). Make us a team, not pursuing separate, competitive, or independent lives, but working together, overlooking each other’s faults and weaknesses for the greater good of the marriage.

Help us to pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another (Romans 14:19). May we be “perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Corinthians 1:10).

I pray that commitment to You and to one another will grow stronger and more passionate every day. Enable him to be the head of the home as You made him to be, and show me how to support and respect him as he rises to that place of leadership.

Help me to understand his dreams and see things from his perspective. Reveal to me what he wants and needs and show me potential problems before they arise. Breathe Your life into this marriage.

Make me a new person, Lord. Give me a fresh perspective, a positive outlook, and a renewed relationship with the man You’ve given me.

Help me see him with new eyes, new appreciation, new love, new compassion, and new acceptance. Give my husband a new wife, and let it be me.

Amen!

Tackle It Tuesday

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

I don’t suppose, taking a nap, and using a whole box of lotion coated tissues counts as a tackle, does it? Too bad. That’s all I feel up to right now. stupid cold…. And I can’t even complain! When the kids had it I was heard to say several times…”It’s only a cold… You will be fine!” so…yeah….I can’t complain, or they are going to start using my own words against me!

Ok, on with the real tackle. I was going to make an apron today. that I have been wanting to do for like a month now. But I don’t think I’m up to that today. I think I will go with the spices in the kitchen that have been bugging me lately. The current arrangement is just not working. So I’ll be back later with before and after pics. Not sure when, as Melissa has a dr’s appt at 11.

Off to look up the recipe for saline nose drops……

UPDATE
When we rearranged the kitchen cabinets, as in moved the actual cabinets around in the kitchen, we ended up with a small cabinet with no door. This is where the cabinets went out over the counter seperating the kitchen from the dining room. I made a curtain to go over it. And have been using it as a spice cabinet. I had on of those plastic coated wire spice racks, that elevated the back rows so you could see them better. But since the opening was so small, it was hard to get to the spices in the back or side. I had to take everything out to find something. See…

So I decided to take the drawer that’s under this cabinet, which is next to the stove as the spice drawer. It had pot holders, candles, and an empty drawer organizer in it. yeah, lol the organizer was empty. lol It used to hold utensils, until I put them on the counter in a glass jar. the drawer before…

And the drawer after…

These are the cooking spices. The baking spices are in another cabinet. I did put some of the larger utensils back in the drawer. Because I had too many on the counter! I also put some hooks on the inside of the lower cabinet doors, and hung up the potholders.
So now I’m all ready to cook! maybe I will, maybe I won’t. haha I just might have the girls cook the chicken and taters tonight! sounds like a plan to me!

January 5, 2007 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

at what I just found!! We’ve been wanting to get the dance game for the play station, but I’ve been worried about the music selections and some of the dance moves that the kids might be exposed to. This looks perfect! Well, except for one thing, it won’t work on my computer!!! drat! Well, when we get a new one (yes, someday we will actually fork over the big bucks and get a new pc!) this will be one of the first (if not the first) things we buy for it!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
