busy, busy, busy, bu…well, you get the idea!

May 3, 2006 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

We’ve had a busy last few days….
Saturday morning, we went to an open house and local artisan sale at the Inn that is located on the property where we used to go for karate. D bought me a cedar rolling pin that had been carved out of a block of wood with a pocket knife. It’s really cool! (Lots of jokes form Granny about how he shouldn’t buy it, I might use it on him!) Then we took pics of the barn. We really like the barn there, but had never gotten pics. We came home for lunch, visiting with D’s parents who came over to see the new goat kid. Then we left to go visit a goat farm. We stayed for an hour or so. It was……interesting(?)…We learned we are doing a pretty good job with ours. Then home for a cookout in the fire pit. Hot dogs, brats, beans, veggies, ice tea, lemonade and perfectly roasted marshmallows. 🙂

Sunday, We had a big breakfast, which is our custom on Sunday mornings. Took care of the animals, had lunch, then went to the Open House at our new library. The paper said Open House 2-5. Which led me to believe it was an Open House. Silly Me! They had speakers outside under a tent, a dedication, and a ribbon cutting ceremony. Mel had to be to work at 2:45, and whe wanted to go. So the plan was be there at 2, walk around eat a cookie, and leave by 2:25 to get Mel to work. Well, at 2:25 they were still speaking under the tent! So I left to take Mel. D stayed there with the little kids, Kenn, and Granny. The kids were excited about showing D the new library, that’s why I took Mel instead of D. So, 20 minute drive to get Mel to work, 20 minute drive back to the library. I missed the ribbon cutting, Hope there’s pics in the paper, I forgot to leave the camera with D! Finally found my family in the meeting room getting food. lol Wow, they had a LOT of good looking food! When I got there, they were just sitting down to eat, so I didn’t stand in line to get food. I had a chocolate covered strawberry off someones plate. soooooo good!!! Then home to go help fil with his computer, some more farm chores, supper, picking Mel up, and getting the kids to bed. Boy, am I tired!

Monday morning found us leaving home promptly at 9 a.m. Me, the 6 kids, and Granny. We stopped at my aunts store. Granny bought Memorial flowers, I bought 2 tarts that small like roses (you know, the kind you put in the warmers, like a candle without a wick, lol) Then on to the bank for Mel, the music store looking for music (duh) for the piano recital next month (yikes), To a grocery warehouse co. for K to put in an application, (“Can you guys quiet down, the whole city can hear you?” – me “Hello City!” – C, lol) (“The smell is different when it’s on the other side of the fence, isn’t it?” – me), Tractor supply for goat food (found a bag for half price! go me!), antibiotics (for the goats) Hoof ‘n Heal (for the goats, I don’t have hooves!) a watering can (I’ve been wanting one for a while) Oh, and a bottle of Gorilla glue for D (no, he’s not gluing gorillas!) $40. later, we left to go to Wallyworld. You don’t EVEN want to know what it cost in there to feed eight people! Plus a phone card for D, some meds, and various and sundry other things. sigh. (“We’ll eat green salad dressing, if you’ll buy us chocolate milk!” – Abigail Uh, no! Got to give the kid credit for trying!) We got home at 2 p.m. we unloaded the groceries, I put the fridge stuff away, then I left at 2:30 for a dentist appt. for a consulation. yep, I’m going to go next month and finish off my upper teeth, and get an upper plate put in. I’ll be glad when that’s done! Then home to make supper, farm chores, etc. Since the chocolate covered strawberries were so good yesterday, I got the stuff to make some. They came out ok, for my first try, I think I got the chocolate too hot, as it wouldn’t coat very well for the first box of berries. Which I and 5 kids polished off before the chocolate was even cooled! ROFLOL Waited until D came in to see how many he wanted plain before I coated the second box. which worked better as the choclate cooled. Those also were gone quick, Kenn managed to get a couple out of this batch. lol

Tuesday morning, was school work, farm chores, taking Mel to work at 9 (she was late, her fault,NOT mine!) Then picking Mel up from work and heading to piano. Then home for supper, farm chores, etc. Oh, and played a game of Scrabble with D.

Today, is schoolwork (C already has his reading and math done. Now to get the others on the ball!) Housework (masterbedroom and bathroom weekly cleaning day. ugh! 1 load of laundry started already) taking Mel to work at 11, more housework, and schoolwork, farm chores, a few phone calls to make, Pick Mel up at 4:45 go to the little store (for the local paper and to take Granny, she ALWAYS needs something!) Then home for supper, farm chores, etc.

Is it nap time yet?!

The fall, BULL, I’m sore. Can I lick the floor?

April 28, 2006 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

The other day, I made brownies. A very large pan of brownies. I actually quadruple the recipe for an 8×8 pan. Yes, we NEED that many brownies! lol I freeze them, so the next 2 or three times we have brownies I don’t have to cook! Anywaaaaay, as I was pulling them out of the oven, and placing them on the counter, I tilted the front edge of the pan, and the not fully cooked brownies slid out of the pan, onto the counter, down the front of the cabinet onto the floor. 2 kids actually asked if they could lick the floor! I probably should have let them, easier than mopping! roflol

On the way to the people door of the chicken house, there is a hole. A big hole. Well, my foot fits into the hole, so that makes it a big hole. Although, it’s only a couple of inches deep. Every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day, when I pass this hole on the way to the chicken house, I tell myself I need to fill it in. “I’ll add that to my to do list” I, in fact, often trip on said hole. This has been going on for like a month. So that’s a lot of times that I was supposed to add it to my list. And I didn’t.

Yesterday morning, while feeding the chickens, I stepped in this hole, and fell. Yep, sprawled right out in the grass, chicken food flying! The only good thing was no one was around to see this! lol I knew as soon as I got up that I had sprained my ankle. I had it wrapped all day in an ace bandage. Today, it’s still sore, and I still have it wrapped. The surprise that I woke up to this morning was I am now sore all over from the fall! Arms, elbows, knees, back, Just about everything!

So the moral to this hole story is to actually write things on the to do list, not just think about them!

After the fall, I dropped the scrap bucket off on the porch and went to walk around and look at all the gardens. Guess what I saw? C’mon, guess! Ok, here’s what I saw. Bet you didn’t guess it!

That’s right. A BIG black bull. He walked right over the fence seperating the neighbors field from our yard. So I RAN in and called the neighbor. He came over right away and chased him home, then fixed the fence!

Then, while cooking supper, I found out our oven had died. That’s why food hasn’t been coming out right the last couple of days. I thought it was just me! lol So we carried 8 pizza’s across the street to my mothers to cook them. Yeah, that was fun!
I left pizza for Granny and my brother to eat, then we carried 8 hot pizzas home. Yeah, more fun! On the way home, we passed Grandpa sitting on his porch. D called to him and invited him over for pizza. But I didn’t hear this, as D left Granny’s before I did. All I saw was Grandpa get on his lawn mower, and follow The pizza across the yard. I said to the little kids that were with me, “Look! Grandpa’s following the pizza!” roflol So he came in and ate with us, too.

Yep, exciting week!
Oh, and we had a kid born this afternoon!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
