When last I was heard from………..

April 26, 2005 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

…..I had been wounded in the barnyard. I’m happy to say that that has pretty much healed. It’s only slightly sore to the touch, and the lump is gone.

Last Wednesday, the 20th, Calen had a clinic visit. He passed his exam and tests. Still in remission and doing well! Still growing like a weed! Everytime we go, he’s gotten taller and gained some weight. When we got to the clinic, I looked at my cell phone, no signal. hmmmmm……that’s weird. I kept checking it while we were in Lexington, and no signal. Not even a signal at Michaels. lol No signal all the way home. I tried really hard not to freak on the way home. It didn’t really bother me to drive around Lexington without it, but on the highway was a DIFFERENT story! To make a long story short, (oh wait, too late for that!) The company said the phone must be defective. It’s a new phone, and hasn’t worked right since I got it! So on Thursday, I sent the phone back and should be getting a replacement before too long.

Wednesday afternoon, we were sitting on the swings and I mentioned to the kids that maybe that night we’d start building our new fire pit. They said lets do it now! lol So we spent almost 3 hours gathering rocks out of the creek, and building it. (pic at another time) We found some frogs eggs on the underside of one rock. So their are now a LOT of frogs eggs in a bowl in my kitchen! lol After supper, we toasted marshmallows in our new fire pit!

Thursday and Friday, nothing major happened. Just the usual housework, schoolwork, animals, and with a little gardening thrown in. (pics at another time)

Saturday we all went shopping. The seven of us, and Granny. I bought some really cool gardening shoes at Tractor Supply, my new favorite store. Then on to Walmart. Believe it or not, I survived that trip! Then to my least favorite part, putting everything away. ugh!

Sunday we just hung around the house. IT SNOWED!! Unbelievable! I can’t remember the last time it snowed during Dogwood winter! Only Blackberry winter left! It was nice just hanging around, with nothing major to do, and no where to go!

Aw, Monday, back to the real world! The remaining 4 chicks moved out! We have NO MORE poultry IN THE HOUSE!!! I’m only a little excited! lol Now we only have the 3 kittens left in. The Mama cat goes in and out. Which is REALLY annoying! Oh, and it looks like our other female cat is going to have kittens. sigh. Anyone want a kitten or two??!! How ’bout a full grown cat? Great with kids!!

Last night we cooked hotdogs on sticks over the fire in our new fire pit. That was fun. We also toasted marshmallows. The kids wanted me to run to the store and get the rest of the fixin’s for s’mores. Mean mother that I am , I didn’t. Can’t have them thar youngin’s thinkin’ they’s a gonna get s’mores everytime we have a fire!

Today we have piano. And I really need to get the bulbs, etc. that came in the mail the other day planted. I decided it would be better to pressure wash the house BEFORE I planted the new stuff. Maybe I’ll at least do the part by the gardens today, If the rain holds off. Then I can get the stuff planted! Maybe one of these days, I’ll do a gardening post and tell you about my Bible Garden! For now, I need to get back to work, AND light a fire under my students!

OW!!!!!!!!!

April 19, 2005 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I did a number on myself yesterday. We were out feeding the animals, and the dog was bothering the chickens and turkeys. So I was chasing the dog. The dog went in the barn. So I ATTEMPTED to follow. I was moving pretty fast to catch the dog ’cause she was in big trouble! The door to the barn is like half a door, you have to duck to go through it. There are pics on the Crooked Creek Farm page. I had my straw hat on, which blocks my view. I didn’t duck far enough and ran my head right into the side of the barn. Right in the middle of my forehead, by the hair line. I was moving pretty fast, so I hit hard, and snapped my neck back. I just said “ow” and doubled over holding my head. The kids asked if I was ok, and I groaned “Noooooooo”

THEN THEY LAUGHED AT ME!!!

Well, ok, if it had been one of them, I would have laughed too. It probably looked really funny! So my head really hurts today, and so does my neck. So far I don’t have a bruise on my forehead, but it’s red and scratched with a lump. I should have used Icy Hot on my neck last night. I kept waking up with it hurting. Think I’ll put some on this morning.

Calen has a clinic visit tomorrow for an exam and blood work. So if you could remember us in your prayers for traveling mercies and a good exam and bloodwork.
Thanks, your prayers are GREATLY appreciated!

Now I’m going to go to work, well, attempt to anyway. I’m not feeling too good today. And I’m going to try not to hurt myself today!

To Old to Party Hop

April 18, 2005 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Ok, all those pics pretty much brought you up to date with what’s been going on around here for the last few weeks. Kids, school, and animals! I am FINALLY feeling better! I waited way to long to go to the dr’s. So it took a long time to recover. But I’m now feeling better, and getting some energy back.

One more update: I bought a gun! Well, it’s a BB gun. After Easter, the neighbors dog came on our porch, opened our fridge we have there (yes, we have a fridge on our back porch!) and STOLE our Easter ham!!!!!!! D went out in the morining to get some stuff out of the freezer, and the fridge was wide open, fresh, wet, dog prints leading up to the fridge, and dog hair IN the fridge! UNBELIEVABLE!!! I called the neighor, I don’t think he really believed me. But he did call back later and offer to pay for the ham. I’m guessing that he went out and found the ham bone in his yard! So I bought a gun to chase the dogs away. The scare my little kids, and bother the goats, so I’m just going to start shooting them. NOT shoot to kill! Just shoot to chase away!

This Weekend

Friday we went to pick up Calen’s new glasses. And then we were supposed to meet D to head out of town to a birthday party at one of Mel’s friends, A, houses. D decided he didn’t want to leave his car overnight night at the shop, so we came home and then all went in the van. Which actually worked out better. We had a good time at A’s house. They had a bonfire, hamburgers, hot dogs, s’mores, a trapoline, volley ball, and a LOT of teenage girls! We didn’t leave until 11, and got home around 12. yawn Woke the kids up to walk in the house and go to bed. lol They’re much to big to carry in! I finally got to bed at 12:40, and the DUMB mama cat woke me up at 7:15! sigh Mel call at like 9:45 to come and get her, that she wanted to go to C’s birthday party at 11. So I called G~, said we’re going to come, but we’re going to be a few minutes late. Loaded up the kids and left o get Mel. WELL, we got stuck behind EVERY slowpoke on the road, then I hit EVERY red light in A’s town. GRRRRRR!!!!!!! Got there, got Mel and here stuff in the van in like 3 minutes, lol, and headed back out. I thoguht the trip to the next party would be faster, as most of it was on the highway. NOT We got stuck in construction traffice. about 10 miles an hour for 15 minutes or so, then completely stopped! grrrrrrr That’s when I called D to tell him where we were. I didn’t have G~’s # in my new cell phone yet, so I couldn’t call her. grrrrr D went in the restaurant and told them I was stuck, but when he saw they weren’t eating yet, didn’t tell them not to wait. grrrrrr I FINALLY got there, walked in and almost died when I saw they weren’t eating yet! You see, I can’t stand being late. I absolutley ABHOR being late. And to find out not only was I really late, but I made everyone else wait to eat their lunch, almost did me in! Hate that! But we, FINALLY, had a nice lunch. And G~ made a great cake. Then out came the cameras. We got a couple of nice pics of them, and a REALLY good one of G~, which is now the background on our computer. ROFLOL Nope, can’t post it here. See, G~ was taking pics too. I can’t post one of her till I find out if she got any bad ones of me!!! ROFLOL

After the party, we did the grocery shopping at Walmart. Then came home, carried them all in the house, but the fridge stuff away. And I crashed. I ended up falling asleep in the chair! Everybody said they were talking to me and I wouldn’t wake up! lol I finally woke up, and the house was empty. Everyone had gone outside, and left me sleeping in the chair. lol See? I’m getting too old to party hop! I told the kids no more party hopping for me! lol

Yesterday, we just hung around, got some stuff done outside. Played a little mega volleyball. Decided where to put the fire pit. We finally agreed on a spot. I did some weedwacking after supper, until I killed the weedwacker. D finally got it running, but it’s not running very well. He said he’s going to have to take it apart to see what’s wrong. HONEST I didn’t break it on purpose!

Well, it’s taken me a while to write this, and it’s PAST time for me to get to work! Gotta go!

The kids (human) gave the dog and the goats baths. This is Yoda screaming because she doesn’t like to be sprayed with the hose.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
