We had several Amish families move into our county last year. It’s so nice to see the horse and buggies driving around our little town. One Amish store opened up about 8ish miles from our house. We’ve been there a few times, and we really love the cheese. I have my eye on a few baskets that this family makes. As soon as I get done with my new pantry, and get my kitchen in order, I plan on buying a few of them.
Now, the families are holding bake sales to raise money to build their own school. I missed the first bake sale, but my husband and I were able to go to the latest sale on Saturday. We spent about $20. on baked goods. The cream filled donuts that are in the bag in this picture were so good! Like amazing! I will admit to eating 2………
Good thing they aren’t having these sales every week! Because I will be in line early to buy some next time! lol
After the bake sale, which is only about 3 miles from my house, we headed to the Amish store to buy cheese. This time, we got colby, swiss, pepper jack, and parmesan. So much better than the cheese you can buy in the store. It’s not made here in Kentucky, but it is made in Ohio. So it might not be local, but it’s regional. lol

We had family over for a cookout Saturday night. It’s so fun, and very relaxing, to sit around the fire with the family. This was just some of the food. If you need help planning a cookout, check out my Planning a Large Cookout. Don’t let the large deter you, you will be able to adjust my tips to fit any size cookout.
I made a double batch of Macaroni Salad. So good!
Last Friday, I forgot to put supper in the crock pot on time. oops! So I had to come up with something else. I pulled some cooked chicken from the freezer, and made this One Pot Pasta Dinner as a side dish.
Just starting to cook……
I followed the recipe. Sort of. If following means using most of the same ingredients. lol I kept the same amount of spaghetti (ok, the recipe didn’t call for spaghetti, but one pasta can be easily swapped for another pasta) and the same amount of liquid so. the technique worked.
about three quarts of the way done cooking…..
And finished! It came out great, and my family loved it! I will definitely be making this again!
I usually take food outside to photograph for better lighting. This is usually how it goes…..
A dog, or two, and maybe a couple of cats all gather around thinking I brought the food out for them. lol That was my plate, though, and I didn’t share! lol
