Crocheted Baby Boy Afghan Set

January 30, 2014 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I’ve been crocheting more items for my Grandmothers Hope Chest. That’s where I keep the things I’ve been making for my future grandchildren. I’ve got a few blankets and sweaters and booties in there so far. I can’t wait to be a grandma.  🙂

With 6 kids, ages 27, 25, 19, 18, 15, and 13, someday I’m going to be a grandma. Someday, I may have quite a few grandchildren. So I thought I’d get started. I have a plan, too. First come, first served. lol My kids will each get to pick something from my Grandmothers Hope Chest as they have a child of their own. I plan on making some photo props, too. You know, those cute little turtles, or pea pod pictures of newborns you see all over the internet. I want to have a few of those types of things made for them all to have their newborn pictures taken in.

Here are my recent additions to my hope chest. A baby boy set – a hat with streamers, high top booties, and a never ending afghan. All made with soft baby yarn. Please excuse the earrings on the model. I had no boy dolls that volunteered. hehe

I used this Crocheted Baby Beanie Hat with Streamers pattern. It is super cute. And I can’t wait to see it on a live baby.

I also made matching Crocheted High Top Booties. These are just like little high top sneakers. They have a separate tongue, and you can put an emblem or button on the sides if you want.

The matching afghan is a neverending granny square afghan. You start all three colors at the beginning, then continue to crochet the blanket using all three colors. No changing colors! See the spiral design that starts in the middle?

The neverending granny square ends differently, too. See the final row? All three colors end at the same time.

Here’s the video I used to learn how to crochet the neverending granny square. Getting it started is the hardest part, and it’s not really that hard if you crochet along with the video. It’s just different.

So those are my recent additions to my Grandmothers Hope Chest.  I’ve also been working on a baby girl set. I need to make the booties, different than the ones above, then I’ll share that set.

    Such a lovely idea.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV
