Hidden in the Stars was not at all what I expected! I was very surprised when I started reading it.
The books opens with Sophia waking up in the hospital and having flash backs to to the very brutal attack that put her there. Sophia is a 21 year old gymnast that was on her way to the Olympics. (Even though 21 is too old for a gymnast, so that part of the story wasn’t realistic. But since Sophia developed a love interest in the book, she had to be that old.) Sophia and her mother are attacked in her mother’s house. Her mother was killed in the attack. The grandmother that she never met is there when she woke up, and she is very shocked that her grandmother is still alive. Now her grandmother is helping to take care of her, and to keep her safe from the attackers that are still on the lose.
Detective Julian Frazier is working hard to solve this case. Sophia is unable to talk due to damage from the attack. They did not know that the clues to solving the case were right in front of them, displayed in Sophia’s mother’s “special” quilt design. Sophia’s Grandmother helps to shed some light on her mother’s life that Sophia didn’t know about, that gives them clues that help find the killers.  Through it all, Sophia gained a great friend in an interpreter that helped her, and a great guy, the detective Julian.
Sophia has lost so much in this story – her mother, her career, her childhood home, her grandmother. Her faith in God carried her through all of it.

 

Hidden in the Stars is a great story of family, love, and faith.
