Ever since my youngest was 2 or 3, we’ve been putting this pink duck in the flower garden. Every spring we find it in the garden and set it on the rocks. Over the course of the summer, the animals would knock it back in the garden so we can dig it out again the next spring.

The End of a Mother and Son Era
This year, it is completely ruined. Pink, plastic ducks don’t stand a chance against the strong summer sun in Kentucky.
My son is now 14, 15 this summer. He’s my baby, even though he hates it when I call him that. lol We have had a long run with the pink duck. I am very sad to see it go. Not because it’s a pink duck, but because it was our “thing” to do.
So I decided to keep our tradition going by the two of us picking out something else to put in the garden.
He did have fun picking out a new little chicken with me, well, as much fun as a teenage boy can have while shopping with mom. lol He just didn’t want his picture taken. lol Me? I need selfie lessons. lol
So we said goodbye to the little pink duck, and hello to the new little yellow chicken.
So it’s the end of the mother and son pink duck era, but the beginning of another tradition for just the two of us.
It’s the fact that it’s “our thing” to do together that makes it special, what we actually put out in the garden isn’t as important.
Isn’t our new little chicken the cutest, though?!
