Courageous Legacy – Review & Ticket Giveaway

September 24, 2021 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

It’s hard for me to believe that it’s already been 10 years since the movie Courageous first came out. My family loved this move. Not just loved, but still love. Check out this Courageous Legacy Review & Giveaway.

Ten years ago this fall, Courageous opened in theaters across the world. Filled with heart-pounding action, laugh-out-loud humor, and powerful inspiration, Courageous has entertained and impacted families across the globe for the past decade.

Now, from the Kendrick Brothers, creators of the No. 1 box-office movie War Room and Overcomer, comes Courageous Legacy. The beloved film has been remastered with 4K digital picture quality, 5.1 Dolby sound, and additional footage, including a new bonus ending.

Courageous Legacy Review & Giveaway

Have you seen Courageous in the past? If you have, then you know it has a great storyline about fathers. If you haven’t seen Courageous before, check out this Courageous Legacy trailer.

I was able to watch a screener of Courageous Legacy. I watched it with my husband, and we still laughed just as hard at the funny parts as we did when this movie first came out. And, yes, I still got tears in my eyes at the emotional moments. My husband and I both loved the bonus ending! All I can say about it at this point, is you simply must see this movie. You will love it!

Go see Courageous Legacy in theaters this weekend, starting Friday, September 24th!

Vindication Season 1 Review

September 14, 2021 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I love finding new shows to watch. I was able to watch Season 1 of Vindication on PureFlix last week. Actually, I binge watched the whole season, 10 episodes, in 2 days. lol And then I wished there had been more episodes in season 1!

Vindication is an original crime drama series on PureFlix. Started in 2005 by Michael Scott, David A.R. White, and Russell Wolfe, PureFlix leading faith & family friendly streaming video service.

Vindication is not one of the usual crime drama shows you usually see. It’s a faith based show that follows Detective Travis (Todd Terry, Breaking Bad), a 15 year police veteran in a small town in Texas. He faces a big adjustment when he is assigned a new trainee, that he doesn’t really want. His family is also featured in the episodes. His devoutly religious wife, and his estranged daughter that returns home. Other than a couple of higher ups in the police department that are shown occasionally, the episodes feature a new story line, and new characters in each .

I’m not seeing an official age rating, but Vindication is suitable for teenagers and adults.

One of the unique features to Vindication, is that while they are investigating the cases, there is always a faith based lesson that one of the characters learns by the end of each episode.

Vindication Season 1 Trailer

Check out the Vindication Season 1 trailer. (Sorry about the cookie warning on the video. There is nothing I can do about it, as it’s not on my end. If you don’t want to accept the cookies, you can still watch the video, just hit play, it just won’t be full screen.)

Here’s a sampling of some of the themes in Vindication Season 1 include, and there are many more.

  • relinquishing control
  • Stressed parent/child relationships
  • Repaired parent/child relationship
  • Making decisions to turn your life around
  • Telling the truth about hard things
  • Relying on prayer
  • Deliverance
  • PTSD/military
  • Marriage challenges
  • Drug addiction/relapse/recovery
  • Misunderstood odd behavior
  • Assuming the best in people
  • Autism/Disability
  • Keeping up with the Joneses/wealth/income
  • Parenting teenagers
  • Unanticipated consequences of sin
  • Self control and self mastery
  • Grass isn’t always greener

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first started watching Vindication. I didn’t realize that each episode was separate, and the story didn’t continue for the whole season. But after episode 1, I was hooked. I loved Vindication. I highly recommend it for teens and adults. For more information, visit the Vindication website.

I’m really looking forward to watching season 2. Which I will start doing very soon! lol

Keep your eye open for my review of an episode from Season 2 of Vindication. And an awesome giveaway that you won’t want to miss!

Show Me the Father Review & Giveaway

September 6, 2021 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Show Me the Father is the new documentary from the Kendrick Brothers.

You may have seen some of their movies before. The Fly Wheel, Facing the Giants, War Room, Courageous, Fireproof, Overcomer. All awesome movies.

Show Me the Father is different from those great movies since it’s a documentary. The format may be different from their usual movies, but the Kendrick Brothers use this documentary to focus on the importance of fathers.

Society today tries to get us to believe that fathers are unnecessary. The Kendrick Brothers present a different perspective of the roles of fathers using interviews, old pictures, statistics, and more.

Check out the Trailer!

We all have a father story. Whether yours was the best father on the planet, the worst, or you never knew your father, and everywhere in between. We all have been affected by our fathers.

Show Me the Father has several amazing true stories that are powerful and heart warming. The Kendrick Brothers use these true stories of fathers to help us see the fatherhood of God. I had tears in my eyes several times while watching the screener. This is not your usual documentary fare. It’s very engaging and inspiring. I highly recommend you see Show Me the Father in theaters when it opens this weekend.

Food and the Olympics

August 6, 2021 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

As part of using the Olympics as a learning experience, we always make food from the host country. This year 2020, happening in 2021, the host country is Japan.

Here are some recipes that we have used so far this year. with pictures of our food!

Food and teh\\he Olympics

Food & the Olympics

I started with Japanese Zucchini and Onions. Very good! I served it as a side dish with burgers. Sounds weird, but it worked. lol Everyone liked it!

Japanese Zucchini and Onions

After starting my Japanese cooking endeavor with a side dish, I moved on to a main dish. Bone in Chicken Curry. There is no coconut milk in this recipe, so it’s different than an Indian curry. So good! And again, everyone like this recipe.

Bone in Chicken Curry

There is no coconut milk in this recipe, so it’s different than an Indian curry. So good! And again, everyone like this recipe. I’m not a fan of dark meat chicken, but really liked it in this dish.

Bone in Chicken Curry

I made a Chicken Stir Fry. I kind of followed my recipe for Left Over Stir Fry, except I diced up chicken breast, cooked it part way, added the frozen stir fry veggies, some soy sauce, a little chicken broth, and thickened it with a little cornstarch. Instead of adding the rice to the pan, I served the stir fry over rice. So, yeah, nothing officially Japanese about this dish. lol But it was yummy! lol

Stir Fry Chicken

My daughter made these Japanese Savory Pancakes. They are not for breakfast! They are Japanese street food. And very good!

Japanese savory pancake

Another night she made Japanese Rice Balls. The whole family was glad she left off the sea weed. lol Of course we didn’t know until she told us. lol But thank you Hannah for not feeding us sea weed! lol She put salmon in these rice balls. Cooked! lol And served it with salmon filets, for those that wanted more salmon. She also served them with the green recipe below.

Japanese Rice Balls

She made this Green Bean Gomaae recipe. It might look a little messy, but it’s really good!

Green Bean Gomaae

I think it’s a given that we would have Japanese snacks while watching the Olympics! We went to the local Asian store for ingredients for these recipes, and snacks. Then as if that bin wasn’t enough, my daughter went online and bought a bunch of different snacks, too.

Japanese Snacks

These strawberry covered chocolate biscuit sticks Pocky were our favorite flavor. Yum, yum, yum. lol

Last night, my daughter made the best recipe yet. Japanese Cheesecake. Oh my! It’s sometimes called a Soufflé Cheesecake. I think that if lemon cake and cheesecake had a baby, this would be it! lol It’s such a different texture. Unbelievably good! We polished off this cheesecake in one sitting. lol But there was 6 of us, so it’s not quite as bad as that sounded. lol

We are definitely going to make sure she makes this again! lol She will probably have to make 2 at a time from now on. lol

Japanese Cheesecake

So it’s been fun trying out new Japanese recipes. And trying new Japanese snacks. We have a few more recipes that we want to try.

Like Cucumber Sunomono. And we have some Nama Chocolate chilling in the fridge.

Whether you are using the Olympics and food as a learning experience, or just looking for new recipes to try. I highly recommend these recipes!

Olympic Activities for Kids

August 4, 2021 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

My youngest just turned 21. I thought my days of doing Olympic studies and lapbooks were over. We had a foster kid for the week, so I was able to do some with him!

Homeschooling with the Olympics

He had never done a lapbook before. He seemed to really enjoy doing it. Here’s what he did. I was having printer trouble, so just overlook that part. lol

I used this Olympics Lapbook.

I have used this Olympics Unit Study with my kids in the past. It’s so good! I highly recommend it.

You can see some of the things I used to do with my kids in my Homeschooling with the Olympics post.

Here are some more links. I ran out of time to use them with my visiting kid, but they look great!
