Cheesy Chicken Crescents

July 28, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

This meal was a result of leftovers, and no time. They went together very quickly. We put one pan in as soon as it was ready,  and kept going until they were all cooked. We had 3 pans full. It was faster that way.
You don’t really need a recipe for this meal, just leftover chicken, shredded cheese and crescent rolls. How many rolls depend on how big your family is. How much chicken and cheese you need depends on how many rolls you use, and how full  you make them.
My daughter and I laid out the crescent rolls, then placed the shredded cheese and leftover chicken on top.
We then rolled the crescents up and put a little cheese on the top.

They turned out really well.

And they were so good! Be careful, though! The chicken inside stays hot longer than the roll. I should know, I burnt my tongue!

Blooming Flowers

July 27, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Well, I went for a walk, and didn’t find anything new to photograph. Oh, the 2 butterfly bushes are in full bloom, as well as the 3 hibiscus bushes. There are still glads blooming, and one lone lily bloomed this week. But I have shared those a lot already.
I did find a surprise while out for a walk. I found Jewelweed growing where it isn’t supposed to. And that would be in the creek. lol The creek has dried up, and the weeds have taken over. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Jewelweed!
In this picture, I am standing beside the driveway, and the goat pen is behind the bush. Alas, I don’t have any close-ups of the pretty little orange flowers. The pictures all came out really dark. It was actually sprinkling when I was taking these pictures and I had to use the zoom. Otherwise, I would have fallen into the creek. lol No, I wouldn’t have gotten wet, but there is about a 3 foot drop between the grass in the picture, and the bush. Nope, I’m not going there! lol
Anyway, we have had Jewelweed in other places on the property, but this is the first time in that spot.
I found out this spring that you can use Jewelweed to treat poison ivy. One site said to take the leaves and freeze them into ice cubes, then you can put the ice cubes onto your poison ivy.
Hopefully, the leaves in the ice will stop people from using those ice cubes in their drinks!
While on my walk, I enjoyed seeing the Lambs Ear in the Bible Garden getting so big. No blossoms yet, but soon.  And just to keep it real, I included a weed in the picture. lol

Bible in 90 Days – Week 4 Update

July 27, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I stayed up to date all last week, until Friday. I was only able to finish half of Fridays reading. Then on Saturday, due to a clothes giveaway at church, I was unable to read at all.

Thankfully, on Sunday, I completed 2 1/2 days to get caught up.

I have finished todays reading, through 2 Samuel 12:10.

I do find that the earlier in the day I start, the easier it is to finish. I’m still trying to train my family not to interrupt when I’m reading the Bible. Yeah, it’s not going so well. I’ve resorted to a quick “I can’t talk now” and going back to my reading. I don’t have little ones, my youngest will be 10 in 2 days. They are all old enough to wait until I’m done reading. Even the adults. lol  So I continue to train them. lol Maybe by the end, they’ll learn!

What’s For Dinner?

July 26, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I ended up not sticking to last weeks menu. I have found, though, that even if I don’t stick to the menu, it is still a great help. If I get off track for some reason, I can jump right back on the menu plan, instead of resorting to not so nutritious foods.

Now for this weeks menu:

Saturday – beef – Husband & kids ate out as they went to a ball game. I had leftovers.

Sunday – sandwich day – Chicken tacos

Monday – chicken – Dirty rice with hamburger, yellow squash

Tuesday – beef – Roast in the crockpot with veggies (didn’t have this last week)

Wednesday – super simple – leftovers, salad

Thursday – chicken – Turkey (from the freezer), mashed potatoes, yellow squash

Friday – Friday Night Fire – Hamburgers with lettuce & tomatoes, macaroni salad or potato salad, carrot sticks (No fire last week, trying for this week!)

Disposing of Medicine

July 26, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

When my son finished treatment for leukemia, we had some of his medicine (oral chemo) left. The doctor told me to flush them down the toilet.
I didn’t do it, because we have a septic tank. I thought the medicine would disrupt the balance of bacteria in the tank and cause us problems.
I recently found this website Dispose My Meds, that has a pharmacy locater. There are now pharmacies that will take your old and no longer needed medicines and dispose of them.
Homeopathic medicineImage via Wikipedia

It seems that the need is even greater for those with city sewer. There have been studies that show the high level of antibiotics and other medicines in the water supply after the water has been treated!

That’s pretty scary!

So if you have outdated or no longer needed meds, you can visit Dispose My Meds to find a pharmacy near you that will accept your old meds for disposal.

The Rule of First Mention

July 25, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

When studying the Bible, it can sometimes be confusing trying to figure out what something means. Sometimes, it seems like words can mean something different in different places in the Bible.

The Rule of First Mention is one way those that study the Bible use to discover the meaning of a word, phrase, verse, or doctrine.

When something is mentioned in Scripture the first time, the same meaning for that verse holds true for subsequent verses.

So, if your reading the Bible and want to clarify what something means, look to see where it is first mentioned in the Bible to discover its meaning

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
