Zaia App Review

October 30, 2024 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been trying out the Zaia App. Never heard of the Zaia App? It’s a new Christian social platform. Specifically designed as a space for the faith community.

Zaia App Review

Here is how the Zaia App describes itself. And their video showing the app.

Zaia (which means light) was created because we simply wanted a place for all God’s kids to get together.

In John 17:23 NLT, Jesus prayed: “May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me”. This scripture is the driving force behind Zaia and the core of our reason for being.

What started off as Jesus and His 12 friends is now 2.6 Billion Christians strong across 46 Thousand denominations!

We wondered how much good we could do for each other and the world if we had a place to come together in unity, so we created one.

Zaia App Review

Zaia is a free app that is quick to download to your phone. The app is very easy to use, with text only, image, or video post options. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like when taking a picture in the app.

Zaia App Review

The Zaia App has features not found on any other social media platform. For example, the Bible is available right in the app so it is easily shareable. There are features that other social media apps have that Zaia doesn’t. The most noticeable one is no filters available when taking pictures. However, I count that as a positive!

There are 2 feed options on Zaia that make this app unique. You can post any picture or video on the main Zaia feed. You see one picture or video at a time on this feed. And scroll up for the next one. You can like, comment, and share these posts. When posting to your Zaia feed, there are 3 types of posts. Regular, testimony, and prayer request.

Then there is the Word feed. The Word feed consists of written posts with no pictures. You can like, comment, and share these posts as well. Here’s what my Word feed looks like:

Zaia App Review

One of the fun things about Zaia is you can build or join a tribe. A group of people with the same interests. You use these private and public groups, Tribes, to connect with others. There is a search feature so you can easily find people to follow, and tribes to join.

Zaia App Review

I didn’t start a tribe myself, but I joined several.

Zaia App Review

I have found Zaia to be not only fun, but inspirational. An uplifting and positive place to go in a sometimes hectic day.

Join me on the Zaia app where the goal is unity in faith, diversity, and in personality! See how fun it is to be part of a Christian community for yourself. My user name is lindaslunacy. Go HERE to download Zaia for free!

Lost on a Mountain in Maine Movie Review

Lost on a Mountain in Maine is the inspiring true story of 12-year-old Donn Fendler who, separated from his family by a fast-moving storm, must fight to stay alive while lost for nine-days in the remote wilderness of northern Maine. Donn’s disappearance captures national headlines and sparks a massive search effort attracting hundreds of volunteers, including his own father who fears he may never see his son again.

Lost on a Mountain in Maine

The movie starts with one of the searchers telling about getting lost on the mountain. How after 9 days, he thought they were looking for a body.

We then go back to 1939, to see the Fendler family, and their dynamics. After having to cancel a big fishing trip with his sons, he takes the three boys on a hike up the mountain so he can get back to work sooner. The weather was not cooperating, so Dad said he was calling it, and heading back down. Donn did not want to quit. The guide agreed to take him up to the top, so his father told him to go ahead and sent Donn’s twin brother with him.

The guide finally told the boys to head back down due to the worsening weather. But Donn, didn’t want to, and took off to continue climbing to the top. He fell, then he couldn’t find the trail again in the fog, and rain.

Watch the Trailer!

The father and the guide searched, but could not find him. They went for more help, but Donn was so far off the trail that they couldn’t find him.

Included throughout the movie are clips of the searcher talking about mountain conditions, and getting lost on the mountain. Also included are clips of Donn’s brother Ryan, his mother, and a park ranger, among others. The best was Donn himself talking about how he survived.

My favorite part is when they show actual black and white video footage when Donn was found.

Lost on a Mountain in Maine is such an incredible story. In my opinion, they did an awesome job of conveying what it was like for a child to be lost on the mountain. This film does contain several instances of mild language. I only remember hearing it during the interviews, not in the actual movie portion.

The movie is based on the best selling book Lost on a Mountain in Maine, written by Donn Fendler. I have not read the book yet, but now I want to!

Now I highly recommend that you go see the movie!

Lost on a Mountain in Maine opens in theaters November 1st!

Average Joe Movie Review

October 10, 2024 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

From the director and producers of God’s Not Dead and the producers of The Blind comes Average Joe, in theaters beginning October 11. When I found out about this movie, I knew had to see it!

Average Joe - A new Movie!

High school football coach Joe Kennedy had no other choice but to fight. A childhood in foster care followed by 20 years in the Marine Corps was nothing compared to his biggest battle: his commitment to stand for God publicly by taking a knee in prayer after each game. When he was fired, Joe and his wife Denise knew this battle for religious freedom, freedom of speech, and the rights of all Americans was one they would have to fight—no matter the cost.

Watch the Trailer…..

Average Joe Movie Review

The movie starts with present day Joe telling his story through flashbacks. Starting with adoption, abuse, fighting, ultimately being left by his adopted parents, then left when they moved so he couldn’t find them. He ends up in a boys home. It also tells the story of how he met his wife when they were kids, and everything they went through, both as kids and as adults.

Joe had never been a football coach before, when he was asked to coach a high school team. He had only played when he was in the Marines. It’s inspiring to see him use what he learned to teach the kids about leadership, teamwork, and family. Since he was a Christian, he prayed with the team after games. Which led to him being told to stop. Then he entered into a different fight. Not only him, but his wife as well.

I remember when this was on the news. His fight for religious freedom is a fight that is important to us all. The first 35 minutes have some intense scenes of his childhood that are not for young kids. That’s what earned it a PG-13 rating. The rest of the movie can be viewed by the whole family. Average Joe is an awesome movie, with an awesome story. When his foster dad from the group home comes to see him at a football game, it is truly heart warming.

Average Joe follows Joe’s story from childhood, to the Supreme Court. Be sure to stay for the credits to hear more about the court case and how important it is to all Americans. I highly recommend you see Average Joe!

Lost on a Mountain in Maine Movie

Have you heard about the new movie Lost on a Mountain in Maine?

Lost on a Mountain in Maine tells the inspiring true story of 12-year-old Donn Fendler, who becomes separated from his family by a fast-moving storm atop a treacherous mountain. This is an inspiring film based on the book of the same name!

White Bird Movie Review

October 4, 2024 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Before I get to White Bird, I’m going to backtrack for a minute.

Do you remember the movie Wonder? 10 year old Auggie Pullman had a genetic disorder that required multiple facial surgeries. Unfortunately, he was bullied by a classmate. Wonder is an awesome move. However, you do not have to watch it first. But you should watch it at some point!

So let’s continue on to White Bird……..

From the world of Wonder, which sparked a movement to “choose kind,” comes the inspirational next chapter: White Bird. Struggling to fit in at his new school after being expelled for his treatment of Auggie Pullman, Julian is visited by his grandmother and is transformed by the compassionate and heroic story of her attempts to escape Nazi-occupied France during WWII.

The New White Bird Movie

Watch the Trailer!

White Bird Movie Review

From the director of Finding Neverland, White Bird reminds us to be brave and choose kind. White Bird stars Ariella Glaser, Orlando Schwerdt, Bryce Gheisar, with Gillian Anderson, and Helen Mirren. This movie is rated PG-13. It has some very intense scenes, so I recommend sticking to watching this with your teens, and not younger kids. This is a riveting movie. Oh my goodness. My heart was pounding in some places. Because there are scenes that depict some of the horrible things that happened during the Holocaust.

While fear, grief, and horror are represented, there is a message of hope. The kind of hope that comes from someone doing something kind for you, without asking anything in return. Kindness that can never be repaid.

“When kindness can cost you your life, it becomes like a miracle”

“You forget many things in life. But you never forget kindness. Like love, it stays with you forever.”

In the end, after hearing his grandmother’s story, Julian learned an important lesson about kindness. And how to practice kindness. Thereby changing not only his life, but the lives of those around him.

I highly, highly recommend seeing this incredible movie! The cast, the scenery, the storyline, the directing, all come together to make it incredible.

Buy tickets today to see White Bird in theaters starting October 4th!

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Movie

September 23, 2024 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Have you heard about the new movie The Best Christmas Pageant Ever? This is a fun film about based on the classic children’s book of the same name!

About The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

The Herdman kids are absolutely the worst. They lie, they steal, they bully…and they’ve hijacked the town Christmas pageant. Directed by Dallas Jenkins (“The Chosen”) and based on the international bestseller by Barbara Robinson, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever follows six siblings who sneak into church searching for snacks and walk away with the lead roles in the town pageant. Grace (Judy Greer) is directing the performance for the very first time; she and her daughter Beth (Molly Belle Wright) and husband Bob (Pete Holmes) are less than amused. But the play’s mischievous stars might unwittingly teach a community the true meaning of Christmas. Featuring Lauren Graham. Screenplay by Ryan Swanson and Platte F. Clark & Darin McDaniel.

Watch the Trailer!

I’m looking forward to seeing this awesome family movie!

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever will be releasing in theaters on November 8th.
