Bathroom Routines with Cottonelle

May 23, 2014 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

*Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Cottonelle, but my love for their fresh care flushable cleansing cloths is all my own!

I recently went on a shipping trip to my local CVS store. While I was there, I made sure to use a great CVS Cottonelle coupon to purchase both the Cottonelle Fresh Care Flushable Cleansing Cloths and Clean Care Toilet Paper.

Since we’re talking about toilet paper…….  Once we get past potty training age, clean bums is not something we usually talk about.  It can be awkward, so no one wants to bring up that topic of conversation. It’s time to start talking about our bathroom routines, though!

Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Chicken

May 22, 2014 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I have been on a quest to learn how to cook more Asian style foods. My latest attempt is Sweet & Sour Chicken. Because I’m all about quick and easy cooking, I made it in the slow cooker! I have made this recipe several times, so far, and my family loves it.

Slow Cooker Sweet & Sour Chicken

Slow Cooker Sweet and Sour Chicken

2.5 pounds chicken breast, cut into pieces 1-2″

1 onion cut into 1′ pieces

1 green pepper cut into 1″ pieces

5 carrot, cut into 1″ pieces

1 oz can pineapple chunks, with juice

1/2 cup tomato sauce

1/3 cup vinegar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

3 tbsp soy sauce

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp ginger

1/2 cup water

1/3 cup cornstarch

Place cut up chicken and carrots in slow cooker. Stir together vinegar, the sugars, tomato sauce, soy sauce, garlic powder & ginger, pour over chicken and carrots. Cook on high about 3 hours, low 5-6 hours, until chicken is down, and carrots are tender.

Combine  water & cornstarch, stir into slow cooker contents, being careful not to shred chicken. Stir in pineapple with juice, onion and bell pepper.

Cover and cook for an additional 45 minutes, until onions and peppers are tender, and sauce is thickened.

Serve over rice.

Linda’s Notes:

I really like this recipe, it’s not too sweet, and not too sour. I also like that there is no batter on the chicken.

You could also use boneless skinless chicken thighs instead of the chicken breasts

I like a lot of vegetables, you can adjust them according to your families tastes.

I use low sodium soy sauce, since one of the people I’m feeding has to be on a low sodium diet.

I use white vinegar. You may prefer another vinegar.

If you like your onions and peppers really soft, you can add them at the beginning when adding the carrots.

Cooking times will vary depending on your slow cooker.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
