We took the week of Thanksgiving off from school. Which means that Zach 13, spent his week attached to some sort of electronic device. lol Abby kept busy with a couple of volleyball games and practices. Unfortunately, they didn’t win any of those games.
We were supposed to go to the movies with the homeschool group last week, but due to snow, we had to miss seeing Frozen. I thought it was ironic that we missed seeing Frozen because we were frozen. lol
Calen, Abby, and Zach went to the skating rink with the church last Wednesday. They had a great time. Although, they didn’t really care for Dad being there as a chaperon. lol Zach was really sore the next day. I didn’t go, so I didn’t get any pictures.
I’m still trying to decide how much time we will take off for Christmas break. I used to like to take off the whole month of December. That worked out great when I had several youngers. Now that my last two are in 7th and 9th grades, they need the work time. I told Zach on Monday that how hard he worked for the next two weeks will determine how much time he gets off. So far? Not much. lol Abby has been trying to work ahead to finish high school early, so I’ll have to check with her to see how she is progressing with the goals she set for herself.
For the past month or so, Abby has been using Simply Put: A Study in Economics for a review. We both like it, so she will be continue using it for her economics course. I’m giving away a copy of the Simply Put Economics Course – it ends at midnight 12/6! So head over and enter it!
And that’s Our Homeschool Week in Review. See you next week!

The Promise: Birth of the Messiah is an animated musical celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. This beautifully crafted musical is a faithful adaptation of the birth narrative from the Gospel of Luke in both story and song. The Promise: Birth of the Messiah is a unique and worshipful story experience that will inspire audiences young and old for years to come.
The biggest thing that happened in my kitchen this week was Thanksgiving. Thanks to my 17, almost 18, year old daughter that did all the baking.
I saw a picture of an apple pie on Facebook, so I sent her the picture. She made her own version and here it is.
Fall has completely left, and winter has arrived here at my house. And winter is cold! The temperature has been in the single digits quite a few mornings. And that’s much too cold for these old bones. lol
We had our first snow fall, which quickly melted. I did manage to take a couple of pictures before it did melt.
I recently received a paperback copy of Simply Put: A Study in Economics by to review in our homeschool.
Simply Put: A Study in Economics is written by Catherine Jaime, who has written several books and booklets on American history and economics. She also is a fellow homeschool mom. Since this book is written for high school students, I am using it with my 15 year old, 9th grade daughter.
