CardioTech Digital Blood Pressure Monitor Review

November 27, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I recently received the Ozeri CardioTech Pro Series BP5K Digital Blood Pressure Monitor with Voice-Guided Operation & Intelligent Hypertension Indicator to review. This monitor retails for $48.50 and comes with a 5 year warranty. It’s powered by 2 AAA batteries. I’ve been using it for a few weeks, and the batteries are still going strong, so the machine doesn’t drain them very quickly. The monitor comes with a case perfect for daily storage, or packing for trips.

In the Kitchen with Linda & Dinner Menu

November 25, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I had to make homemade turkey sausage for our pizza the other day, so I made extra. I used two 20 ounce packages of ground turkey. I made patties with one package and put them all in the freezer for future meals. With the second package, I made crumbled sausage for pizza.

Coming Home for Christmas DVD Review & Giveaway

November 22, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I recently received the DVD Coming Home For Christmas to review. This is a great Christmas movie for the whole family to watch together.

After their parents separate, two sisters that haven’t spoken in five years reunite. Once they are speaking again, they decide it would be great if they can get the whole family together for Christmas in their old house. The house that is now owned by someone else.

One sister meets the new owner, while she is swinging on her old swing set in the backyard without permission. She apologizes and runs away. While taking the families clock in to be repaired, she again meets the new owner of the house.  After visiting his shop a few times, she tells him her plan, and he actually agrees to host the family for Christmas. He even kept the families Christmas decorations that were left in the attic when he bought the house.

Thanks to his kindness, the whole family is able to be together at the old house for Christmas. And are joined by some new family, as well.

Our Homeschool Week in Review

November 22, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Volleyball seems to be the dominating activity in our home lately. Thankfully, our homeschool team plays in a Christian association so we have no worries about having to miss church services due to volleyball. She has had to miss some extra church activities, such as band practice and CR, though.

Abby played in two volleyball games on Saturday. It was a marathon sports day. lol Three teams played each other in basketball and volleyball. Thankfully, we didn’t have to stay for it all! They won the first game (22-25; 25-16; 18-16) Unfortunately, they had to play back to back games and were really tired for the second game. And the other team was really good. The score was 18-25; 7-25. They play again tomorrow. Go Trailblazers!

1Girl Nation CD Review & Giveaway

November 21, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I recently received a 1Girl Nation Cd to review. 1Girl Nation is a new girl band whose primary audience is preteens, teens, and young adults (as well as us parents, too!) The music is lively (does that make me sound old? lol) and draws the listener in. The lyrics keep them there. Visit the 1Girl Nation YouTube channel, linked below, to see a video of how the group was formed.

About 1 Girl Nation:
Landing in the space where One Direction meets TobyMac, 1 Girl Nation is an exciting blend of upbeat pop music, with lyrics that are totally focused on living life for God, even while you’re young. 1GN, as they’ve already been dubbed, stars Carmen, Kayli, Kelsey, Lauryn Taylor and Lindsey, five girls with a passion for telling their fans about Christ through their music. Their first single, “While We’re Young,” can be heard on radio stations across the country and their self-titled debut album is available now!

Hospitality – What & Why

November 20, 2013 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

What is hospitality?

Websters defines hospitality as the generous and friendly treatment of friends and guests. I love the way that sounds. We should strive to be generous and friendly to all, but especially those visiting our home.

Inviting others into our home to visit or to share a meal is something that I think everyone should do. It’s also something that gets a low priority with our busy lives today. I have been trying to be more deliberate in inviting others to our home. Whether it’s family, our friends, or our kids friends. Whether it’s for a birthday party, a cook out, a holiday meal, or just to hang out.

hospitality

The first step to practicing hospitality is to decide why you want to practice hospitality.

Do you want to use hospitality as a witnessing tool?

Want to get to know your neighbors better?

Want to see who your kids friends are?

Do play a game (chess, cards, etc.) or have a hobby you want to share with like minded friends?

Knowing why you want to practice hospitality will help define your how.

For example, if you want to get together with a few people to play a card game, that will determine your time, how you set up your house, and the food you will serve. If you want your kids friends to come over, then you will want to have your house, activities, and food kid or teen friendly.

Now you know what hospitality is. You’ve also had a chance to think about why you want to practice hospitality. In the coming weeks I’ll share more about how to practice hospitality in your home. Some of the things I’ll cover are getting your house ready, food, and more.

Is hospitality something you practice in your home? Or something you want to start doing? If you have any questions about hospitality ask them in the comments, and I will try to answer them in future posts.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
