Blooming Flowers

July 17, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

The glads in the front garden are blooming this week. These are a really pretty salmon color.

The hibiscus blooms have started to open. I have three bushes. This is a flower on bush number 1:

And on bush number 2:

This is bush number 3:

The Passion Flower has several buds on it. I like this picture because of the single rain drop inside the bud.

The purple butterfly bush is in full bloom.

In this picture, I was standing my my back up against the front door of the house. The purple butterfly bush doesn’t look so big from here! The bush on the left is hibiscus bush number 3 from above.

Here’s another picture with my back up against the front door. The white butterfly bush is so big! My husband even gave it a big trimming earlier this year.

I don’t have mulch anywhere because of the chickens. I have big plans for the front yard. We are in the middle of adding on a front porch. The deck and 1 ramp are done. We have 1 ramp and the railings to do. Then I can work on the gardens.  🙂   Oh, yeah, I need to fix the chicken pen so the chickens can’t get out and get into my gardens!

Blooming Flowers

July 7, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I thought there wouldn’t be pictures to share this week, but I went for a walk and found quite a few. Hope you enjoy them!

My daughters glads are starting to bloom.

I don’t know what variety these are, as they were given to us, but they are beautiful.

The Hibicus have a lot of buds on them.

I think the buds are beautiful, too. I’m anxious for the flowers, but look at this bud. It looks like if you tried to do anything to the bud, the “claw” would close on your fingers! lol

The Passion Flower that I trimmed and moved outside is growing like crazy. I found 2 buds. Oh, and a long legged friend.

Last week, I shared a picture of a mimosa blossom. Now here’s the tree. It’s so huge, and provides a lot of shade for this end of the yard. There are still blossoms on the tree, but you can’t see them in the picture.

And here’s a picture from the driveway, looking back at the tree. My husband keeps the lower branches trimmed off, so he can mow under the tree.

Blooming Flowers

June 29, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

There aren’t too many things blooming in my yard right now, but I managed to find a few. And no echinacea this week!

The hostas in front of the house are all blooming. Such pretty little flowers.

The yarrow in the Bible Garden opened. These are  a light pink color.

The Purple Butterfly Bush has flowers open now. I posted the blossoms on the White Butterfly Bush last week.

Here’s a picture of the whole bush. This bush was a volunteer bush. It just showed up one summer. It started growing in the garden in front of the house (with the hostas). It did start growing about 10 feet or so away from the white butterfly bush, so I’m not sure if it grew from that one. Can a purple bush come from a white bush?

The Mimosa tree is blooming! The blossoms are usually fluffier than this, but it rained before I took the picture.

There are a lot of blossoms on the tree, this is just one section. This tree was started about 7ish years ago from a couple of little twigs that a friend gave me. She said to just stick them in the ground, and they would grow. And they did. I’ll try to remember to get a picture of the whole tree next week, as it’s really big and beautiful. Although, now, I wish I hadn’t planted it where I did. It’s on the end of the house with the Bible Garden, which I would like to expand to cover that whole end of the yard. And the tree is in the way.  But I don’t want to cut it down, either. So I just pretend it’s a palm tree. lol

Now I’m going to show you a picture that shouldn’t have happened. This is what happens when you take a peace lily, that has never seen the sun, and put it outside. sigh I put it on the front porch, where it got only a couple of hours of morning sun. I thought it would be ok. I should have known better. sigh So it’s now on the back porch, where it doesn’t get ANY sun.

Blooming Flowers

June 22, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I went for a nice walk around the yard this morning, to see what was blooming. Here’s what I saw:
The first blooms on the Butterfly Bush. This is the white one that is in front of the house.
Here’s a close-up of the flowers. The stems are going sideways because this is a big bush, and the flowers are above my head. I had to pull it down to take a picture. lol

What’s this, like the 4th week of  Echinacea pictures? I guess I never get tired of taking it’s pictures, as the flowers are so interesting. This picture shows flowers in several different stages.

Here’s a close-up.

The Hyssop that is in the herb garden right behind the house is starting to bloom. I had some in the Bible Garden, also, but it didn’t come back this year. I’m going to move this one to the Bible Garden.

I couldn’t decide which picture to use, so I’m using them both. lol

Well, that’s the tour of my yard as of this morning. The roses still have a few flowers, as do the Day Lillies, and the Hostas.

Blooming Flowers

June 16, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I have a few things blooming this week. The Echinacea flowers are opening. I love the way these flowers open up. So interesting to watch their progress.

The Feverfew flowers look like dainty little daisies.

The Geranium that’s in a hanging pot on the back porch is blooming. So pretty!

The Hosta flowers in front of the house are opening.

Four roses on one bush.

This rose isn’t one on the bush in the above picture, but from the other rose bush in the Bible Garden.

Flaunt Your Flowers

June 12, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

On my walk around the yard, I found one lone daisy in a garden that I haven’t even touched this year. We had a farm sign, until it fell over this winter. My husband has to dig new holes for the cement before he puts it back up. So I didn’t do anything in the garden there yet this year. I was surprised to find this little guy. Although I shouldn’t have been, as I transplanted daisies there last year.

The Echinicea are starting to open.

They are so different in how their flowers open. They don’t unfold like roses, the petals just grow out of the flower.

The Feverfew is blooming. I just love these little flowers. I think they are pretty to grow in a flower garden, not just in an herb garden.

This poor little geranium is looking a little bare. I trimmed it back before putting it outside for the summer.

It does have several bud clusters on it, though.

And the hostas in front of the house are sending forth their flower spikes. I probably should have seperated them this spring, as they are getting so big.

They have a very interesting looking bud.

Aw, now for the roses! I posted a picture earlier of the bottom rose in full bloom.

What I’m finding so fascinating, is that the two roses on this bush are different! I’ve had this rose bush for 9 or 10 years, and this has never happened before! The are shaped different, and the color is different.
There’s a third flower at the top of this stalk. I can hardly wait for it to open, and see what it looks like!

Blooms in the Bible Garden

June 8, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

The roses in the Bible Garden are blooming and I’m so excited! I really should get more rose bushes. I only have these two in the Bible Garden. I have wild roses in the garden in front of the house, and all over the property, actually. It would be nice to get a few more rose bushes, though.

Here’s a picture of the one in full bloom.

Here’s a close-up of that rose. Isn’t it gorgeous?

And here’s the other bush. There is one rose just starting to open up, along with lots of buds. You can see 3 of the buds in this picture, but there are more can’t can’t be seen here.

And a close-up of the little rose.

The Day Lillies in the Bible Garden are still blooming.

I love it when all the flowers are blooming!
