Displaying Puzzles

March 31, 2010 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

We love to work puzzles together as a family. My kids worked to put together a puzzle last week. This time, they wanted to hang it up, instead of taking it apart.

I remember gluing puzzles together when I was a kid, so I thought it would be fun for them. I told them we couldn’t yet, though, because we didn’t have the right kind of glue.

My 15 yo son found a picture frame that we weren’t using and slipped it in there without gluing. Then brought it to me to see.

It worked great! We have it hanging up, enjoying it. Because it is a snug fit between the glass and the backing, it has stayed in place, even while hanging. When they get tired of it, we can take it apart. Much better than gluing it, now we can take it apart to share it when they are finished with it.

Monday, Monday….

October 13, 2008 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Hannah is still hurting after here “incident” on Saturday. So I called the dr and believe it or not, she got an appointment for today! shocking, but true!

She got a shot of a steriod to help reduce the inflammation and clear her sinus’s faster. She wasn’t very happy, but she chose the shot over taking pills for over a week. The Dr. also gave her some stretches to do 10 times a day to help the muscles in her neck.

Oh, and our van broke down today. I’m thankful. Not that the van broke down, but where it broke down. I wasn’t stuck on the side of the road with the kids. We had gone to the library this morning, and the van was running hotter than it usually does on the way home. The on the way to the Dr.s, which is just 2 miles down the road, the temp guage hit the red zone. YIKES! While we were waiting for prescriptions, we ran to the store, as Hannah has starving, which is only another mile. D passed us on the road and met us at the store. I told him what was going on and we switched vehicles.

Turns out the water pump went bad. It takes us almost 30 minutes to get to the library. So I could have broken down and been stuck on the side of the road somewhere. With 4 kids and a Granny.

I am so very thankful that I didn’t! G-d sure does take care of us!

What a Day!

October 12, 2008 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I left this morning at 6:10 a.m. (Yep, A.M.) to take K to work. I had to stay in town until 10 to pick up Hannah and Abby from their big sisters house where they had spent the night last night.

So I went shopping.

Except, there aren’t that many choices at 7 in the morning. lol

I went to Walmart. lol Where I found the Kids Christmas ornaments for this year. Nice ones, for only $2. And since the kids weren’t with me, the ornaments will be a surprise this year. K had wanted to get a can of coffee for work, but I talked him out of buying it at the gas station $$$ and got it while I was here.

Then I was off to Krogers. Even though I had already gone shopping for the week, I picked up a few good deals. Boneless pork ribs on clearance, 2 gallons of milk for $1.99 each, free (after coupons) yogurt (3 4 packs) and free (after coupons) Jello singles, And free after coupons Febreeze Noticeables starter kit. Actually, I made money on some of these items. I also got a couple other things. My total after coupons was $12. and change.

Since I had to wait for the drugstores to open, I ran the coffee out to K at work. It’s only about 2 miles, approximately. I stopped at McD’s and got us both a breakfast burrito. Then I went back to Walgreens, and sat in their parking lot for 30minutes waiting for them to open. It wasn’t all that bad, I ate my burrito, and organized my coupons for the deals I wantd to get.

I did 3 transactions, some of it was repeats from the other day. I did add some Glade scented oil candles. I’ve wanted to try these since they came out but I’m was too frugal to buy them. Walgreens had a good deal with their rebates. so I got them for 99 cents after rebate. I spent $13.94 after coupons, and I’ll get $10 in rebates. Here’s a picture:

Next stop was CVS. They didn’t have the razor that I wanted. 🙁 But I got the refills and will get the razor next time. I spent $9.40 out of pocket, and received $15.99 in ECB. Here’s a pic:

As I was walking to the car, Abby called to see where I was. 10:05 Yeah, a full 5 minutes after I said I’d be there. lol

I got the girls picked up (finally!), and we headed home. I got everything put away, checked email, etc. And then it was time to head out again.

We went to a birthday party for a very special girl. I can’t say who, as I don’t have permission to share her info. I think I’ll ask if I can share, as she needs prayer.

While we were at the party, Hannah passed out, fell backwards and cracked her head on the cement floor. It was LOUD! So we left there at about 5:20ish and headed to the ER. Signed in at 6, and left at 9. After lab work, neck xray, and a head CT. Turns out, she had a sinus infection that she didn’t know she had and that caused her to pass out.

We picked K up at work, and got home at 10. What a loooooong day!

ugh….

February 12, 2008 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

I have had sick kids for over a week now. ugh…It’s just a cold. How come just a cold makes you feel soooooo horrible?????? Oh, and just for fun, I’ve been trying to fight off the same cold.
I’ve had it up to here *holds hands way up over my head* with sick kids.
argue, whine, bicker, whine, pick, whine, lather, rinse, repeat…….
sigh
I have had to miss Sunday morning church service 2 weeks in a row. The first Sunday, I went to Bible Drill and then the evening service. Last Sunday, I just went to Bible Drill with Abby, the only one well enough to go, and came home. Throw in a missed Wednesday night service, and I’m feeling very church deprived.
But the kids are on the mend, and they just had a cold. You can’t imagine how thankful I am that it’s only a cold!
I’ll be back to blogging when the kids stop whining enough so that I can think in complete sentences!

another Zachyism

January 25, 2008 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

Today I was changing the posters in the schoolroom, and Zach asked me where the pumpking pie guy was.

I tell you, this kid has a very unique way of associating information in his brain. Half the time, I have no idea what he’s talking about, until he explains it to me!
Anyway, I told him I had no idea who he was talking about. He said “You know, Georgie Porgie pumpkin pie….”

ROFLOL
“Zach, are you talking about George Washington?”
“Yes, where did the big picture we have of him go?”
See what I mean? Instead of coming up with the name George Washington, he comes up with a poem. And just to make sure I’m really paying attention, he changed the words to the poem! roflol

George Porgie,
pudding and pie,
kissed the girls and made them cry,
when the boys came out to play,
George Porgie ran away.

Um…yeah… who needs to remember George Washington’s name, when you can just say the poem!

Even the Rocks Will Cry Out

January 22, 2008 by Linda @ Linda's Lunacy

In our Bible Drill class Sunday, we had the kids make prayer rocks.

You know, the fabric covered rock you put on your pillow with this poem:

Place this prayer rock on your pillow each morning. When your head touches the rock on your pillow at night, it will remind you to pray.
Place the prayer rock on the floor beside you bed each evening. When you get our of bed each morning and your toes touch the rock, it will remind you to begin your day with prayer.

Well, anyway, Bible drill is at 5, and evening church service at 6. So Zach had his in church. And during the service (which was a concert) he said to me several times “This rock isn’t working!” Each time I asked him what he meant, but it was hard to talk with the music so loud. (it was good!, just loud!) He even put the rock on my lap, and laid his head on it, and said it didn’t work.

So after church, I asked him what he meant. He said he kept trying, but it didn’t work. So I explained it again. And he said “oh” I asked “Zach, did you think that when you laid your head on the rock, that it would pray for you?” He said “nooooooooo!” with a smile on his face. And then wouldn’t discuss it any more.

He is just so cute! I guess he really believed that the rock would pray for him. lol
